Is Gorners still around in Warrington opposite Hartwell VW?
In fact is Hartwell still there?
Nah, Gorners went under in around 2005/6.In fact is Hartwell still there?
They built that shiney new TVR and Brabus showroom in Wigan. And then lasted around 12 months or so.
Showroom in Wigan is now Arnold Clark - think it's a Fiat/Chrysler place.
Not sure about Warrington - but won't be Gorners whatever it is!

Ceased trading in the last week or so. Site up for let now. Many many years I've driven past there admiring their showroom. It was an NSX dealer too back in the day.

Far too small, I would imagine.
It is a shame - the salesman we dealt with had been there 20 years and I only found out the other day that we vaguely know one of the guys who founded the business although he retired a few years ago.
AC took over the old HL Gorner site in Wigan - and that was a Brabus and TVR dealer - not exactly big!It is a shame - the salesman we dealt with had been there 20 years and I only found out the other day that we vaguely know one of the guys who founded the business although he retired a few years ago.
Nice showroom though and have turned the warehouse space into a 'car supermarket' type room. But they're not a Fiat and Chrysler main dealer.
Worrying thing about 2Mills is that rent isn't specified - it's a case of make us an offer - which AC may well do!
New one for the list.
CHESTER HONDA
Gone.
Been publicised a while that they're moving to Cheshire Oaks but all the cars seemed to disappear last week and all the signs are gone as of yesterday with an 'all enquiries' sign now in place.
Quite a prominent showroom and given the economic climate, one that I can't see being filled for a while! I hope i'm wrong.

Odd post - as you suggest, they have simply relocated to a new facility at Cheshire Oaks, which is now open.
That move is what did for Two Mills (mentioned on the previous page) though.
Dane VW are moving too later in the year - a bit further down Sealand Road.
Not really that odd a post? The name's now gone - no more Chester Honda. Now going to be Cheshire Oaks Honda. That move is what did for Two Mills (mentioned on the previous page) though.

Anyone remember Fred Grimes on Standishgate/Wigan Lane.It was there for something like 80 years before it was flattened and flats built on it.Stan Jackson ran it for most of that time but sadly passed away 4 or 5 years ago.Stan was a board member at Wigan Athletic.
Used to love my dad going there to look at the cars as Stan would always open the toffee drawer and my eyes would light up.
He had his minters in the showroom and his part-ex lesser cars stashed around the side of the showroom.Happy days.

My Dad is an accountant and his firm used to do their accounts. One of the Grimes or Jackson family owned a Toy shop next door - recall going there as a kid for us, and then my Dad looking at a car next door - was an old-ish chap then - very friendly.
We never bought the car but do remember the dealership well.

Holland Motors in Southport. Knocked down a few years ago to make way for a Lidl and a couple of shops.
Was Holland Motors the space that early 2000's did lots of Jap import stuff - Pajeros etc? Also, you seem like a 'Southporter' - is what was Cubleys now Chapel House? My friends Grandad had a Saab 900, C reg, and used to take us on daytrips in it during schools hols to places like Southport and always seemed to call in to Cubleys and get treated like royalty.
He passed away a few years back but Saab UK were interested in his car for a bit of a showpiece at their offices apparently as it was 20 years old but like new condition!
Also, the garage that was Reynolds - big place on the left as you head in towards Kew Retail Park from Ormskirk/Scarisbrick way - always looked quite new to me - did that place have much of a history?
Not sure if posted (it might even have been me who did if so!) - apologies if so - but Perrys Vauxhall in Leyland is now a Tesco Express.

I believe its built near to/on the site of the former Station Garage / SGL Rover.
Google Maps dates suggests it closed between May 2018 and Sept 2021.
Any photos of the old SGL place? Imagine a BL dealer would have been busy in Leyland at some point in the past.
