Cholmendeley Pageant of Power

yes, theres more bridges, plus theres a wider bridge near the start line. they've moved things around so theres less need to cross the track.
for instance the Car Clubs are over to the north side of the grounds, rather than next to the track to the south, near to the boat paddock of last year. the paddock is restricted to those with the extra tickets, rather than general access etc. think theres about 4 bridges this year, compared to 1 last year.

The weather looks pretty awful for the entire weekend, do we have any plans for a bit wet weather protection? Will be a bit crap if we all have to sit in the rain! I'm trying to get hold of a few fold up chairs today, but I don't know anybody with a gazebo. If anybody has one (or two!) it would be good for us to shelter under.
Sorry for sounding like a wimp but I hate the rain!

BBC weather is hit & miss. Better to use the Met office or a 'proper' outdoor service like:

Certainly not the best looking car there, but even worse the Veyron sounded pathetic & weedy on the track compared to 90% of the other motors (that made my Tuscan sound quiet). Admittedly it was probably only running on 4 of it's 16 cylinders at those low speeds though....

More photos here http://www.lawrencecliftphotography.co.uk/30360/in... . What a day! For those that didn't attend for one reason or another, I'd certainly reccomend putting this event in next years diary and do the FULL weekend as there's too much to do and see. VERY similar to Goodwood's Festival of Speed but the viewing points (at the moment in the events infancy) are really good, a lot better than Goodwood's, plus with the track being circular (to a fashion) there's no hold ups with the grouping of car category's. There was a broad range of cars and bikes to be seen and heard!
The car club areas could do with WC's and catering, although this may be addressed in future years?
I wasn't aware that the proms was an annual event at Cholmondeley but they combined it with the PoP and (for me and lots of others) it really worked, despite the rain for an hour or so, the atmosphere was fantastic. A few regulars wanted to keep the events seperate, but for me I wouldn't have thought about going to the proms event for an evenings entertainment.
To sum up, a great family day out and an event worth attending, fantastic for the North West.

Agreed.I've been to hundreds of car shows where enthusiasts put their cars in a field to look at. This has more space than any I've been to (prepare for lots of walking) but beats them all for range of vehicles and the ability to get right next to the cars as they rev up in the paddock or launch down the race circuit. It never felt too crowded and the owners / drivers were happy to talk about their machines.
Add the boats, army displays, helicopters and other aerial acrobatics and it is a day to remember !
