Last Sunday morning at the strid car park (Bolton abbey) there were loads of what appeared to be old open topped hill climb cars parked in the field opposite the car park and some more in the car park.

Obviously a rally or hill climb gathering they looked great.
It was an IDMC event.
What's that?

ETA: Ah so that Ilkley's motor club, was it a hill climb then or a road rally?

Edited by Wills2 on Wednesday 24th October 20:23
That was a Car trial, intention is to drive steadily around planned courses in the field to see how far up them you can get before getting stuck. Good fun and just one of a range of events IDMC run around Yorkshire. The Strid Field has been used a number of times this year as most of the other trial venues have become too water logged.

You can do those events in any car, I've been out a few times this year in my Daughters Mk1 Panda, but I think that was a national event you saw so some of the more serious guys (from around the North of England) would have been competing in purpose built cars.

I`ve seen him twice now in the Ripon/Masham area but didn`t know he lived around here I just thought he might be visiting.
Also saw Russel Crow in that garden centre on the roundabout as you go into York on the A59.

This is Yorkshire spotted thread after all, isn`t it . .
Daniel Craig knocks about with Jay Joplin who has a tasty gaff in Masham. Up at NYE a lot.
I must admit I`ve had to google Jay Joplin, never heard of him before.

hehe It really is weird when internet meets real life...

Yep the Passat is now sold, it was on air-ride, you'll see a Golf edition 25 in its place now, soon to be on air-ride, and a white Focus RS is the GTR owners daily.

On a Saturday you may have seen a silver 106Gti, thats me byebye although from now on I'll be in a grey 1 series as I'm getting it back from the garage this week! woohoo

Edit: I've just found myself really confused... I guess the owlcoats must be in Pudsey confused

Edited by StottyZr on Wednesday 24th October 17:48
Yes, Pudsey mate. Owlcoats is the M&S and Asda across the way (i think). My offices are just across from where the cars you mention park. We have 101-105 Bradford Road and all the cars parked on your left as you drive to your place belong to our lot although I think some of them park across from you. You can see the Cascade (company name) signs on 101.

You'll see my cars, currently using the white M3, parked out front, usually next to my business partner's cayman s and the other one's cayenne (both black). I saw the white RS today, looked nice and chunky.

Don't work Saturdays (or Fridays hooray for me! ;-) ) though so haven't seen your motor.
Ahh I know the buildings you mean! I'll have a lookout smile

Just to clarify the cars and unit aren't mine or anything like! A good mate of mine runs/owns them, I just turn up on Sat to do "car things" hehe

There was a very clean black Clio 182 (On P-Plates) pulling out from the BP garage on Hull Road one evening last week - Sounded like it might of been Super Charged?

Thank you, I did wonder I remarked to my mate as we cycled past (still huffing and puffing after the climb up from Bolton abbey) that they might be trying to get up the hill, looks great fun.

I'm glad its there, but I wish they'd fecking make their minds up about which pump stands have which fuel at them, and correct the signage.

I've put V-power in the Missus crapbox, very nearly put petrol in a diesel - becuase it has a BLACK handle, and keep missing the regular becuase its not at all the pumps.

Very, very snide and I know its deliberate - The posted prices are the cheap fuels, excepts the only fuels available at ALL the pumps are the dear ones.

It's like the Wonga ad with Earl and Co both times I've been in there. Struggling with a noisy fridge today, last time they couldn't take my money off voucher confused and there was loads of diesel near one of the pumps which needed cleaning up.

Loidis - the Carrera looked fantastic, a credit to you.
