I cannot say for the business section I'm afraid but it has been noted. It is a very fine line and some of the web sites would be of no material value to the average PHer, but then you get the ones for detailing companies, or garages or similar that are. If we let one person link to their litho print company web site for example, then we would have to allow a car detailing site or garage to be mentioned also?
Another issue to bear in mind is the amount of "reports" that come through. Where we try to be as balanced and reasonable as possible, if people report a thread on the basis of the laid down rules, then we have to respond. And believe me, we do get a lot of reports.
As you say, if people have a service or company that is of genuine interest to others, then interested parties can simply look at their profile and email them off forum.
Hope this explains a little.

Thanks Al, apperciate you have to draw the line somewhere. Different audience on the Business ForumAnother issue to bear in mind is the amount of "reports" that come through. I'm waiting for someone with a carpet / rug cleaning business to post... don't be shy, willing to do the covert website URL exchange away from the forum
I had a fella come over and clean some carpets for me a couple of years ago and I have to say I would highly recommend him to anyone. Can't remember his name and doubt he's on here, but I have kept his card at home nice and safe for next time. PM me if you want his details.burriana said:
Guys,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this thread definitely constitutes advertising, mainly due to the fact that you have put your URL links up.
Great to know what we all do and, we can see it being of potential benefit to others in some instances, but it is still advertising.
Rather than close a potentially interesting thread down, we have edited the posts to take the URLs out.
Cheers,
al
Fair enough (although it was an innocent enough thread) but it would be nice if your advertising chappy actually responded to enquiries. Friend of mine owns Fenton Motorsport and wants to advertise and both he, and then me trying to help him out, have emailed your advertising people umpteen times over the last 3 months and got diddley squat response.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this thread definitely constitutes advertising, mainly due to the fact that you have put your URL links up.

Not that I was advertising my own business, I doubt many people looking for HR and Finance Software look on Pistonheads for that type of thing.
Design Engineer.
(As per my profile, working on vehicles that are RWD, turbocharged, big 6 cylinder engines, composite panels, spaceframed, built with lightweight and performance in mind.
Not as flash as you think though... these ones have 30+ seats and you have to pay the driver when you get on!)
Can do 3D design, Manufacturing drawings, 3D conversion etc from home aswell if anyone has any 'projects', got a Lathe. CNC miller etc in the shed.

I manage other companies bills for them on a share of savings basis (comms, energy, stationery, packaging, couriers other non-core areas etc - don't get involved with staff stuff). i.e. MrOverheads does what it says on the tin. My clients are mostly Finance Directors or Owner MD's

I have my fingers in a lot of different pies which combined together turn a nice income, but I'm a trucker by profession. These days I work self-employed and only do adhoc work, holiday/sickness cover, last minute call outs etc. Experienced on everything from STGO CAT 3 low-loaders, abnormal loads through to 'normal' artics, 8 and 6 wheelers down to transit vans.
I also do freelance proofreading, copywriting and transcription work but it's hard to find decent paying work.
I'll do pretty much any sort of work if it involves sitting on my arse with either a steering wheel or computer in front of me.

I'm a special investigator for HM Inspector of taxes and I know where you all live, your IP addresses and you ISP's, thanks for posting.
Real world, I'm responsible for c€300M cost of sales, c€50M inventory and 12 operations sites across South West Europe, in the building supplies industry (stuff in builders merchants etc.). This is why I am not home with my gorgeous wife & 2 year old son most of the time and try to tell myself its somehow worth it.
