I'll be coming up for a nosey and to see what goes on, sent off for club membership last week.

I've also put my name down for marshalling on the Lumies as well seeing as they were short.

intended to run but wife just reminded me this morning we have a school appt for parents evening.

I had a chat with David Taylor while at Throckmorton, think they've got enough to run it. Hoping to get out on the next one with Jez in the hotseat.

Excellent, come over for a chat then on Wednesday. Lummies should be a good night too, should see you a few times I expect unless we end up in a ditch like last year.... rolleyes

Lummies got cancelled I'm afraid, but if you still fancy marshalling there's Beverly and District's Beaver rally which starts at Dalby and is likely to be heading over the North York Moors. It's likely to be damp and there's nothing beats a moist Beaver.... if I remember that far back wink

We've switched the entry over as soon as we heard the Lummies was a washout.

I noticed on the brf about the Lummies, I've put my name down to marshal on the Beaver.

Rubbish......

Good event crap result again rolleyes, too many of route excursions then insufficient time to make up the lost time between that and the next control.

Winners were the Pullan's on 1:40, second Dave Chapman, Dave Taylor on 2:05. Barry and myself would up 7th on 10.00. At least we got all the codeboards, which I guess is something.

I enjoyed what I did manning a couple of RC's, had to get a move on going to the second one after finding the road I was going to take shut, laugh got there in time though.

Cracking drive home over the moors too, driving

See you Sat night Ian as I've got 3 controls to man.

It was, livened up at my last PC by someone who seemed to be trying to run us over coming into the control.

I wonder who that was........... scratchchin

Hey, don't blame me I just read the maps.... biggrin

Christ that was a hard night, they used every trick in the book (actually NOT in the Blue one) to take time out of us we were just 2 minutes inside OTL for the last few sections but at least we finished without a fail. You can tell it's a tough event when people like Retchless drop 23 minutes and Ian Ainsworth gives up and goes home before petrol!

18th overall in the end was hardly a good result but I don't think we could have done much better given the way it was timed, the mileage of Whites and the amount of plotting to do, I didn't see much of the scenery that's for sure. The Illuminations would have been a walk in the Park compared to that.

hehe

I had a good night, right enjoyed it.

It did seem a tough night navigation wise.

Yes, it wasn't that the navigation instructions were difficult, it's that they took so much time. Something like 45 or more instructions for a 7 mile section, yet if you didn't decipher them all you would miss a junction or a code board. the instructions were scattered about the sheets rather than in order so it was sometimes taking me about 30 seconds to find each one before I could plot it. My Brain had slowed down towards the end and I was actually behind us on the road, so we were lucky there was nowhere else to go!.

That's why I handed out the route when I did after petrol as there were grumblings from the navs.

Henry has sent over a copy of the last 12 car so I've got that to have a look at before the next one.

Yes it was nice to do a section which was plotted before we started thanks... shame they scrubbed it though!. I think they had a 'PR' issue somewhere in it, though it was clear when we went through.

Some marshals were giving out the route at 15 seconds to start, some on the start minute. I'm not sure what the marshals instructions actually said.

Oh by the way I've still got all the handouts for the Beaver if you want to practice it, you would need a 94 and a 101, up to date versions.
When you do it, get somebody to drive you around randomly across the bumpiest roads they can find... just for the realism of it biggrin

I can't remember seeing any instructions on giving out the route at a specific time, the guy on the clock made the call to hand them out at the first control. After hearing about the grumbling I made the call to hand them out when I did after petrol, much to the dismay of the last 3 crews who had to re plot when the route changed at the last minute, hehe

I'm just off away for a few days, but yes I would like a copy of the route to have a look at thanks, smile
