Yorkshire Big Breakfast, Easter 2013 - Sunday 31st March
Discussion
This is my fourth time at the Malton Big Breakfast and I`d like to thank the organisers for doing a great job again, I enjoyed seeing lots of great cars and my sausage butty and a cuppa. The YAA is a very worthwhile charity and as I work alongside them at Topcliffe I know how much they appreciate the help in keeping them in the air.
Here’s my view of the Mustang accident,

Firstly apart from pride and wallet!! Thankfully no one was hurt. I don’t believe that the driver was booting it as much as others had been doing; in fact I thought it was a controlled departure right until he had to go around the Police Community Officer and his car parked on the side of the road.

You can see in the Video, he pulls right then left and loses traction in the middle of the hatched area of the road and goes hard left up the bank and into the tree. Lots have been said on driving styles leaving the event. Those of you who were here last year in Apr will remember a blue focus and silver GTR doing multiple 80+ mph passes. Bad form, but the guys have apologised. Due to complaints last year we have a Police presence now which is a good thing for safety. However I think the placement of the Community Policeman and his vehicle was wrong regardless of driving style/ability or lack of etc. In Oct 12 a Police vehicle was parked across the road almost opposite where the Mustang hit the tree. This car was in plain view to those leaving the trading estate, but not on any roadway. Very few cars gave it beans on departure because the car was in plain sight. Rightly or wrongly, this driver didn’t appear to see the Community Police vehicle until the last moment and swerved right which then lead to the loss of control and a sudden stop. However, if the Police vehicle had not been parked there, no accident would have occurred in my opinion.

Hehe, you did nothing wrong at all!! Infact, me and my wife were praising you (and others) for how 'professional' everyone was e.g when you waited for me at the single-file bridge just before McDonalds - Other convoy's that I've been in don't care if anyone is left behind. I also loved the fact that we all had fun on NSL roads (Even the wife had an adrenaline buzz) but when it came to 30/40 zones everyone stuck to it.
I must apologise for not socialising with anyone. We were both shy & cold .
And about the Mazda... I honestly thought I was going to get slaughtered with all that power that was at the convoy but I think she did pretty well at keeping up. I also apologise if my chav stickers on the boot cramped your style though
Hopefully see you and some others at future events.

It was a pretty steady run because we simply didn't have the horse power on tap that we usually do... I did notice that some people did get left behind after we went round the farm vehicles so sorry about that, not everyone was keeping their eyes on their mirrors.
Hi guys,
I've never actually posted on here before, just tend to lurk around in the background. I think this years meet was brilliant, though its starting to get little tight on parking!
I came up with some friends from Clio197.net and the Renaultsport forum and we all had a great day!
Heres a couple of my snaps...

Oh and while I'm here, just a comment that struck me while I was at the show. I know the money raised goes to charity, so I was thinking maybe next meet they could have collectors with buckets for people to donate? I'd have happily chipped in a couple of £, but I didn't fancy a butty or a cuppa (we had coffee and doughnuts before we set off!) or queueing for one, in fact I barely even went near the showroom if I'm honest. Had I seen someone walking round with a bucket they could have had my money, and I'm guessing others are the same.

First time I'd been, and will go again - was fun walking around seeing all those cars. I agree they weren't all the sort of thing that interests me, however I personally enjoyed searching for the interesting metal.
I have to say I did feel 'egged on' when leaving, by the marshal(?) at the exit and the presence of a fairly large crowd - I decided I don't have the skills to drift with dozens of people lining the pavement, so I didn't try, but I can understand how the Mustang came to grief.

Thanks again to the guys at Malton cars Specialist on behalf of the Yorkshire Renaultsport Group. Another great event weve attended every meet you've put on so far over the years and its just gets bigger and bigger. We did notice there seemed to be a lot less exotics this year to past years but this could be down to people having them sorn over the winter months.
Were hoping the Mustang incident doesnt effect any future meets as these are part of yearly outing and make a great edition too them.
Thanks again guys and well done on the money collected
