The route will be covered in snow this weekend, I hope it'll be warm and dry when we go.

Hello all, first post here smile

I'd love to come on something like this, sadly I'm busy the suggested weekends but I hope to make it to something soon!

For those who can't do this date (And those who can!) I usually do a little run out before the Malton Meet on Easter Sunday - Meet point just North of York early doors, and a 100mile blat over the Howardian hills and up onto the NYM. I might stick another thread up, PM me if your interested.

An interesting thread running here about organised runs/hoons. First timers to these things should have a read and see what is expected/acceptable and what is not...

Who remembers this one? It was a cracking day in February, about 2007ish?

I'm not even sure how many of the regular members on here now were there?

I still have the route from this one, in fact I've done it a good few times since with other groups. I think it was one of Marks magical mystery tours, and we had a photo shoot in front of the Bowes museum. Happy to share the route if anyone fancies it (its brill) but far further north than the Dales.

Ok chaps, some interesting things to mull over.

I've spoken to the weather dudes in the other forums and the outlook for our target hoon area on Sunday is...

schmalex said:
I reckon you will see mostly heavy rain down low, with it falling as snow a little higher up.

There is warmer weather pushing in to that area around Saturday night / Sunday morning. It all depends on whether the upper temperatures are lifted enough to alleviate the risk of snow.

In summary, prepare for quite a grisly, wet day with the possibility of snow at higher levels.
The majority of our route is at or above 1000ft so we ARE likely to see snow, some of it could be gnarly.

What does everyone want to do?

I think there are essentially 3 options:

1) Carry on as planned and turn it more into an adventure than a sprited hoon.

2) Change the route plan to something less high. For example we could have a nice long blast down the A65 to near Kirkby Lonsdale and get some top bacon sandwiches and coffee at the brill biker/rally cafe by Devil's Bridge.

3) Bin it off until weather is better.

Thoughts please.

What do you reckon, Jock?

It's always a nightmare finding a date. So far we've got 15+ cars, could be more. Seems a shame to bin it off entirely but Buttertubs would be a fking deathtrap at anything over 10mph. I know, I did it in January in the 944...

That said a nice, open A-Road blast could be fun, even if it is pissing it down...

I'm easy, we could cut out the buttertubs part and just head up the route prior to that and then come back as planned. That would give us time to deal with any weather related detours.

I'm still game, RWD BMW be damned!
But yes it could quickly descend into "line-a-stern OAP crawl through the damp" than a hoon.
Then again what else would you be doing at thta time...sleepin?
