I'm quite partial to fast saloons and the odd turbo myself (see profile) but what they're missing is the frequent heart-in-mouth moments and the ability to leave my ears ringing now, an hour after getting out the car, despite me having ear plugs in all day....that's the mark of a proper car that is wink

Seeing the Vulcan after has just been a great way to round off the day (sorry for leading you on a tour of most of South Yorkshire on the way Oily, route home was much quicker!)
No trouble moribund, I was just enjoying the drive biggrin
As it happens you passed me just before turning off the motorway for Wakefield, I was dawdling on the inside lane hehe

Good run out, thanks to all for coming.

C3BER took the title of Fly Swatter Supremo and gave a touching speech after receiving his gong.

What a terrifically proud gentleman you are, a graceful winner

Thanks for arranging, I'm sure the drive out was great, breakfast was worth getting up for anyway..

(Do you need someone to clean it?)

(the car, not the trophy or yourself)

Looks like a good run out - should have got off my arse and put my name on the list for this one. Breakfast looks like a step up from my layby burger too.

Benjj : did anyone write the route down, as I'll be heading out that way this week-end too, and it's always nice to try recommended roads driving

I've had enough of arranging for a while, I'm just waiting for the next one that someone else will organise now smile

Forest of Bowland?

Ripon up to Helmsley?

East Yorkshire?

Fast roads, slow twistys, and the time factor call into play for any hoon. Longer runs need some serious planning since it needs to include stops. Short runs need to include all of the above and a yummy breakfast.

Gents - I've mentioned before but it got lost.

I have the route and have done it a few times with groups from here or other forums, for a corking run out further North. Starting near Scotch Corner and initially heading over the A66 for a short jump before turning North, with food stops, super unleaded on route, superb (open, well sighted, deserted) roads, up into County Durham and back. We finished at the Bowes museum once too where there’s a cafe, or there are other options.  It’s nice as its quite different roads to the Dales roads too. 100 miles ish.

I can do the maps, do the emails etc - what I can't do is drive, as my cars not built yet.

If someone wants me to nav for them them, I'll arrange it. End of May good for me.

I know it’s a fair drive especially for those of us South or West  Leeds, but its worth it.

If someone wants to do the driving or go for a recce some day, just shout up and I'll meet you and guide for you.

(I just want to get this car rebuilt this summer and get out there swatting!)

May to early for me but I agree it's a lovely area for a blast. It's just the extra two hour plus getting to the start point is an issue.

Taken it over Buttertubs... fast slow fast slow fast SLOW SCRAAAPE!

It would have been a tight squeeze on that road back over after Buttertubs though. The sign said 7ft width restriction, should I'd have had a few inches each side to spare smile
I slowed to a crawl when we got to buttertubs and started climbing with the thin wire barrier on one side. Don't think I have the balls to take something lime a TR up there.

Scoob was chipped from 300 to 320 bhp when new , but 320 is standard now anyway smile. Back wing is none standard and it had a front splitter on but i ripped that of on some country back road last year (bit too low it was).
Back wing completes the car for me. The saloon should have been the only style WRX STI in the UK, hatch just looks odd in comparison. I went out as a passenger in a Scoobie V5 Type R and it made me realise just how awesome they are.

I will doing another run in a couple of months which will go slightly North East on to some faster, more open roads than the Dales, but still lovely countryside.
