IMPORTANT to note that if you have been shafted by this bunch of left-wing car-hating cretins formerly led by that moron we all know about - you must apply to get your money back in the next couple of weeks. I've just received my £30.00 cheque!
EFA. Alexander is on his way hehe

Fat/Skinny JA: To repay this money means you'll have to have cuts to services.

Wow, talk about rats and sinking ships.

A bloody disgrace, it's not their money, it never was their money and due to their high handed incompetance the council tax payer foots the bill.

Does anyone know if the local government ombudsman can fine/ban incompetant local officials for this kind of idiocy?

What is the current position regarding Coppergate?

Are the cameras still operative and are fines being imposed or is it back to the old system of 'if you get stopped by a police officer you might get a ticket?'

Are the Council refunding fines collected previously from the cameras?

I applied for a refund months ago and have heard nothing.....better chase it up I suppose or is it a lost cause....?

At least the council tossers seem to be getting booted out one by one so that must be worth my £40!

My understanding is that the old rules apply i.e. the cameras are turned off, however, unlike the bridge that has been for years a perfectly reasonably bus/taxi only street between certian hours. So i wouldnt rush to risk driving down it.

As far as fine refunds from it are concnerned i'm not sure what the score is. As you say, and if i recall, the cameras couldn't be used for fines here either so a refund may be possible. I'd give them a shout and see what happens. Worst case they say no.

I have to say I don't know how you lot cope with the traffic in York. Went to the star in the city to try it, and it was just chaos, and this about 2:45pm on a Friday so hardly rush hour.

To be fair today was unusually busy.

Black Friday, last, but one payday to Xmas, start of St Nicholas's fair, and a school training day etc Who knows?

Looks like repayments will be sent to all who `got done` - which I think is only right: http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/11635213.BREAKING_...
York was awful on Friday - had to be at the hospital late afternoon & there were couple of ambulances struggling to get through it all.

Well credit where it's due that good to hear.

I'll still not vote for the buggers, but at least it seems like there's a human being with a modicum of sense in charge of the local Labour Party at last.

Although there are no more vehicle journeys in York than there was in 2004...

All just down to bad traffic management.

More refunds coming if you got caught on Coppergate!

Remember this ongoing costly farce was brought to you by The Labour Party. Defining the concept of fiscal incompetence since 1900.
