Forgot to say, nice choice of car
Cheers.Really a lot of fun having a car with twin webers and no ECU. Just fiddle with ignition and carries - no computer required!
I have a few weekends and evenings of fiddling to do:
Sway bar and other bushes to replace
Stiff steering to one side - replacing tie rod ends and ball joints. - and will check rack if that doesn't cure it.
Get the wheels balanced and geometry done
Replace dynamo with alternator
Electroinc ignition
Strip and service the webers
Once it drives and handles well, will start to get all the cosmetic and practical stuff (like demister/heater) done and put a bluetooth retro radio in it.
I have a historic 2 day 'rally' in France in April - more of a tour really.
I need a trip out in that.
Also consider speaking to Rob Griffiths at RG Race Engineering http://www.rgraceengineering.com/. Can't speak highly enough of him and his work - currently restoring an E-Type, 67 Mustang Fastback, couple of midget race cars and plenty of other nice stuff (and my knackered snotters). His workshop is a veritable aladdin's cave.

Not sure where they are based but a company called Big Red, have an excellent reputation for Alfa calipers, I expect Lotus ones will be similar. What make are they on the Élan? Alfa used ATE , as did Porsche.
Great fun twiddling with proper carbs isn't it.
Love to see the car out and about
