Quite interested in this but a little worried that my 911SC will be a bit low...
Are the roads all tarmac or are there dirt tracks/forest fire roads included?
Just found this photo of my friends the Bakers in their '79 SC on this year's LeJog. They managed just fine, and beat us soundly Are the roads all tarmac or are there dirt tracks/forest fire roads included?
This is the sun rising somewhere between Wick and John o Groats as we were coming to the end of a 26 hour straight stint.
Just had an email from the organisers telling me which maps are needed if you want to go for the full fat navigation experience, these are:
91, 97, 98,102
The edition numbers seem to be the latest ones. (Well they match mine anyway)
If anybody is looking to buy maps, I'd recommend www.dash4it.co.uk as a cheap efficient source.
Of course you can just use the tulip road book if it frightens you.

Well, 40 entries so far: http://www.knowldale.co.uk/Miglia%20Road%20Run.htm
I've just put 2 new rear tyres and a new battery on the Elise. The tyres won't be scrubbed in by Saturday, if you see us spinning off backwards into a hedge please stop and help
How are you all thinking of approaching this? We're going to follow the tulips at a fun pace but not try the hard nav, and I'll attempt any tests that look safe for my car - I've no intention of taking any risks with my baby!
We're also going to have to be in Colne for 5 so my mate can make an evening appointment, so we'll probably end up abandoning the navigation and driving straight to the end at some point.
I guess Ben and Mitch will have the maps out and be rally driving over all the tests??

Well the final instructions have arrived, only one test. Though I'm not surprised or bothered either, it's just a fun run out as far as I'm concerned. I'm rather hoping the Test is Waters Farm, near Shap, but it's just a random guess.
We will be doing the navigation, but given that my nav has not done any for a while, we might either do it together or just follow the tulips if he's struggling.
looking forward to it, it will be good to give the Alfa a proper run out and to actually see some of these roads I regularly go down with my head buried In a map.
Not sure what the running order is, they said it would be done by year of manufacture, which would be interesting, but the list with the finals is just date of entry I think.

Ben, I'm now planning on going like the clappers to catch up then just following you, so don't get lost!
Looks like there were at least 2 tests planned originally but there is some issue with a double-booking at the auction place? That's a shame but out of their control I guess. I wasn't really expecting more than a couple of tests myself for £30 incl. fish and chips, road book and rally plate - the Bolton Autosolo I'm doing on Sunday is £30 entry for one test site all day.

I'll try and leave some marks on the road for you to follow...........If only I had another four cylinders. We will be doing the navigation, but given that my nav has not done any for a while, we might either do it together or just follow the tulips if he's struggling.

Ok, I'm going to suggest to John that we meet at 06.55 at the Burger King / Travelodge on the roundabout at the junction of the A65/A59/A629 half a mile to the west of Skipton.
He can leave his car there for the day (for free) and we can take the A65 straight up to Kirkby and the start.
Anyone wants to meet up there for a run up that's great. If so be on time, I'll be in and out of that carpark swiftly as I want to get up, get signed on and check the car over (and eat bacon.)

I've just spotted that the "finals" give the start address as NWA Auctions J36 Rural Auction Centre, Crooklands, Milnthorpe, Cumbria LA7 7FP
BUT, if you just use that postcode in sat nav you'll be stuffed. As per the website I think you'll be better off using LA7 7NU if you don't already know where the place is. It's pretty hard to miss I think.
Oh and I think lunch could be at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes.

Yes the post code seems to be wrong, perhaps it's the old place or something. I drove past the new site today you can't miss it, it's massive.
hawes sounds about right for lunch, lots of good roads up there, the route of last years illuminations would fit right in with start the distance and hawes as half way halt.
