Fair enough; the initial criteria was "nice" "trendy" & "good", but if it's now "non chain" & "great food" then I 2nd someone else's suggestion of little Italy, that really is superb food & excellent service, but more rustic than trendy. In my opinion, the one place to avoid above all others is la vecchia.

I've only eaten there once and the food was very good. Sadly my wife caught food poisioning (I told her it was the amount she had to drink, but he ho).

I'd avoid Ceasars, its more fast food than good food IMO.
