Excellent well done sir.
One more to add then, this one is ideal for those thinking of getting involved with Road based Motorsport, like 12 Car rallies, Road Rallies or Navigational scatters.

Organised by Ilkley and District MC on Wednesday 17th September. A Navigational Training evening. Start 19:30 at the Otley Rugby Club. An hour or so of informal practicing and discussion about the navigation techniques and timing likely to be found on the club's 12 Car Rallies.

There will then be a short practice run which will allow you to put theory into practice without any pressure. The run will finish at the Shoulder of Mutton in Kirkby Overblow which will coincide with the Clubs Noggin and Natter. You will need Maps 103, 104, a romer, pencil, sharpener, rubber etc.

No need to pre-enter, but if you could pop a post on here or contact me on ian.mitchell57@ntlworld.com we can judge the number of people we might get and work around that.

I need to check with the Club what the situation is regarding club membership, Ilkley or otherwise.

Great idea for a thread, but I think it would be good if you could edit the top post with the overall list of events whilst deleting ones that pass to make it worthwhile. Otherwise you've got to constantly read all posts and assimilate your own diary.

That's a nice idea but I fear I'm too lazy. To be honest I don't think there will the *that* many events, so just scanning the last couple of pages of the thread every now and again should do it?

OK, I'll give it a go....

Well done again that man, but I fear you may have a full time job on your hands now. biggrin

Another one for the list then.
30th August IDMC Tennant Trophy, Stubble Field Autotest at a Field near Goldsborough (Knaresborough), scrutineering from 16.30, first Car 17.00. Afterwards at the Bay Horse Pub, who serve meals.

The exact Field depends on which the Farmer actually cuts!

More details on IDMC's website.

This thread's no fun if we don't talk about the events too - I'm looking at you Ian, some good pics on Facebook from last night. Did you take the Alfa, and did you manage not to spin (several times) this year??

YorkshirePudding made a fantastic offer of a drive in his MX-5 if I went but I couldn't make it.

The link works for me???.

No didn't use the Alfa on Wednesday, still haven't got any tyres which aren't marked M&S which is a requirement for Normans Do. I was in a Mini Cooper S (the red one in the pics), it's Stephen Owens car, chap I'm doing Historics with this year. It was brilliant fun while it lasted as the Fuel Pump failed on my 5th test. So much different driving a nimble front wheel drive car compared to a RWD Alfa on slicks!. It was a bit tricky for me though as I'd never actually driven it before starting the first test, still went for it as you would!. Got a decent time but clattered into three Cones and overshot the finish line.biggrin

I Still can't get the Tests memorized properly though so had a couple of washouts, or lost time stopping to read the diagram.

Overall though it was a superb event, three well laid out tests which were each tackled four times (not by us mind!). The longest Test was laid out across the bottom of the Field again and was about three hundred yards long, including some pretty steep banks to negotiate and some very hard tress if you got it wrong.

You really can't beat this sort of thing for simply having fun in your Car for very little outlay. I think it was won by a chap in a knackered old Proton he found in a barn.

Good thread, thumbup

Well you didn't want any money off me for navigating you round the Devils Own Tour the other Sun so thought it was only fair, smile

Good laugh on Weds night, though at one time I thought I'd set the car on fire as it was smoking at the end of test 3, eek but it turned out to be a bit of dry grass somewhere under the car and it soon stopped smoking.

Will be sticking in an entry for the Tennant Trophy next week and need to give the car a once over as it's been sulking in a corner since Weds.

Did my first ever WO test as well, mad

Great idea.

Shouldn't it be a Wiki so we can update the main list ourselves? (Saves you some work OP)

There is also Leeds Supercar Meet. We go on a number of drives and attend events throughout the year. Last week we had a fantastic trip to Whitby with 15 cars and have a drive to the Dales planned for next month.

Just a quick heads up guys. Please be very careful about advertising an event. If a post has even a sniff of self promotion then it will need to be removed as yes, we will and do get reports flying in.

If you know of an event which is relevant, please add it to the WiKi. Do not post separately.
Cheers.

We are a bit short of entries for this, so if you are thinking of entering but haven't done yet, please do so or it may have to be scrubbed.

EDIT... sorry too late it's been scrubbed not enough entries this time.
