Anyone recommend TVR MOT friendly places in Yorks region?

She will pass ok, but I don't want her abused during the process.

Got a dashcam in my daily smoker.

Recorded some tasty driving during the road test after the last service rolleyes.

It depends on where you live or how far you want to travel (Yorkshire being the biggest County in the Country with an area of 6000sqm), but a couple of points:

Book your car in for a time slot and wait with it.
A road test isn't part of the MOT so they have no excuse to take it out.*

  • Unless it's a 4 x 4 where the front axle is connected to the rear axle via a solid link.

Car is in Leeds.

A lot of mot places won't let you near the car while they do the mot - not like the old days when I'd get under the car with the examiner and tell him which bits I had replaced myself recently etc.

So I'm looking for somewhere where I can at least see what they are doing while they have the car.

Mainly keen to avoid any of the yts yoofs having a blast in a sp6 car to knotch that up on their belt.

curse.

If you don't mind a small journey, I've had good experiences with Greenways Garage at Newton on Ouse. The owner is on here and understands the sympathy with which specialist cars should be treated.....

Cheers,
Tom

I take my GT3 to Impact Motorcare in Pool in Wharfdale near Leeds. Richard the owner is an old school engineer and used to dealing with classic and sports cars. He is happy for the owner to wait with the car and watch the MOT process from the sidelines.

Seriously? I've stood next to, nigh on joined in with every MOT I've ever had. Heck I usually use it as a chance to have a good poke around underneath with the benefit of the ramp. Sounds like you've had a bad experience.

(I've had a few tests where I've been asked to "hold this probe" or wave it near that car with the running engine too!)

Give Gareth a call at Selby TVR Sports and Classic. I use them for my cars and they know their stuff.

If your car has a limited slip diff, then you MUST tell the tester in case the brake rollers cause expensive damage.
This letter from VOSA clarifies it:

So, yes, in many cases the car will be driven on the road using the decelerometer. Within the speed limit of course....

Same here, always good to have a look under the car whilst it's up in't air. As for friendly emissions tests I couldn't possibly comment wink

Take it to the Phils at Aeromotive in Birstall.
Both own TVRs and are proper TVR nuts, they dont actually do the tests onsite but they have somewhere trusted that they take them to.
