Looks like we've got some fruity weather on the horizon, gales/storms over the next 4 days then a decent chance of some snow.

Hoping we get some proper white this year.

I'm travelling up from London this evening to visit my parent in N Yorks for the next 4 days, which is why I've packed:

Footware: heels, trainers, walking boots and wellies

Coats: Long wool smart coat, down-filled puffa and waterproof.

You never know what you're going to get.

I have no car at the moment (some dick drove into me) but it has winter tyres on. I always have coats, carpet (for even more grip), snow shovel, fluids etc etc in the boot smile

Yes - regardless of the (wholly unjustified) hype - below 7c winters WILL NOT PROTECT your car from collision damage with other road users!!!

On another note it might get a bit white here in High Peak, and then again it might not.

A friend is an RAC callout chap with one of the last RAC 4x4 winter-tyred vans. He tells of a winter 4 years ago when he had to rescue some numpties from just off the Cat road who had broken down. They had travelled 400 miles from the south of the country just to have some fun hooning around in snow... . The mind it truly boggleth.

I`ll be pleased when my morning cup of gravel is cooler - it`s been a bit too hot these last months.

Well, the weather wasn't as bad as predicted, as per usual. Had some lovely spells of sunshine, albeit a tad nippy. Came over Kidstones last night and it was snowing/sleet and had a bit of a dusting down in the dale this morning, but it soon went.

To be honest, fair play to them. They drove 400 miles to get to some decent roads for some hooning fun. They didn't crash, they just broke down. Shows true PH spirit though smile
