Is Pontefract a decent place to live?

After living in Leeds, we recently moved to Walton, which is a village just outside Wakey. It's really pretty charming. If a train station is a priority, maybe consider Sandal / Walton / Newmillerdam? Mrs Chev gets the train to Leeds every day and it's no bother. We can walk from our house and be in open countryside within five minutes; can't put a price on that.
