Stonking drive out - Sunday 14th
Discussion
Ok so it seems that there is a few more interested in a run out, with a view to making it a regular occurrence.
Sorry to start another potential drive out to the above post, but who would be up for a Yorkshire Moors drive out early Sunday 21st June? I have checked the weather, and it is supposed to be a clear day so, so far looking good!
I am proposing that we meet at a location in York around 6am, (TBC) and then, depending on the distances people want to go, a route that incorporates the Yorkshire Moors and the coast, then heading back in land for a breakfast stop in York.
We can organise photo opportunity stops and as long as we are all sensible, there should be no problems with setting a fast pace. Those that want to push on can go up front, and those who aren't can remain at the back.
I have never met anyone from Pistonheads before, so I will be a complete stranger to all. If there is anyone having doubts about coming, be confident that it will just be a bunch of strangers with one thing in common - cars.
So who is free Sunday 21st to meet around 6am in York? In the meantime I can look for a meeting venue, a proposed route and somewhere to eat on the way back. The Highway Man café does good bacon / sausage butties and it would give us a good chance to look at the cars that turn up.
If you are interested and can make it, please get your name down below. In my opinion if its got 4 wheels (or even 3) its welcome, and it will be interesting to get a variety of machinery.

Initial thoughts are a potential route like this - but open to suggestions.

Oh FFS!
You were happy with a Harrogate/Skipton start not so long ago. Now you have someone who has organised quite a few runs over the years, knows the routes, knows where to get a good breakfast, has set a date and a route... and it's not close enough to your home now.
If you want to organise your own run, fine, but it seems a bit daft to try to set up another, fairly vague one, on the same thread that one has just been confirmed only a couple of hours before.

I can't make this weekend, got to go to Bramham with the missus to watch some ponies trot around some fields. I also thought that 6 days notice might not be long enough, therefore giving people 2 weeks to plan for it, might give us more chance of getting a stronger turnout. I would have happily put my name down for your run, someone with experience of the roads and organising these things before would be great, but I just cant make this weekend.
These threads always start and end the same :
- Hi, I fancy going for a blast, anyone up for it?
- Me!
- Me!
- Me too!
- Me 3 !
- Me as well!
- OK cool, we have enough numbers to organise something. Right, I've chosen a date, it'll be x as forecast is good and roads will be clear.
- OK! x10
A few days before the run :
- Hi all, everyone still up for Sunday, yes?
- no, can't make it now, I'm washing my hair.
- me too, sorry. Any other day would've been fine though.
- me neither, my gran's cat has died.
- etc etc.
Those organising - just give it up guys! You're completely wasting your time and effort as the SAME thing happens EVERY time. If you want to go for a blast just get in your car and go. I do this myself as I can't be arsed with all the hassle above and I often find myself meeting someone else out for play who I've never seen before.
