Usually you're in with a good shout of spotting the vans before being upon them, however this morning on the A64 West bound just after Grimston Bar there was one parked up on the bridge over the carriageway, but instead of being placed centrally over the road and highly visible as they usually are, this bugger was tucked right into the side so you couldn't see it until literally going under the bridge. The camera hatch was definitely open so i don't think it was just arriving/leaving.

So be warned, that's the first time i've seen one operating sneakily like that. Just yesterday i'd had my Integrale at work in Leeds for MOT and servicing and tanked it a bit coming back home, had a van been as above I could have found myself in a spot of trouble!!

Cheers,
Rob smile

They're on the 64 daily between York & Leeds, but as I mentioned you're usually in with a good shout of spotting them all. The one this morning was being a proper snidey lol

It's been parked there a few times. Caught me a bit back.

Also be aware of the spot that they park up at by slip road at Tadcaster. Really hard to spot until your on it. This is the first slip road at tadcaster coming from Leeds and not the 2nd one, where they are also often parked.

Lets make a list of where they are always parked up.

Personally, I think having that van parked up the A64 is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel.

Another heroic effort by the police service, pouring resources into stopping accidents that don't exist.

Give them more funding or medals or something.

There was one the other day when some lad stuffed it into the barrier on a64. Guy walked out his car unhurt. Yet the police though it would be best to shut it down for hours on end to let the air ambulance land and then for them to do accident investigations.

I often see the van there on that bridge before 9am, driver probably goes for a fry-up soon after as they're not there later on.

I saw an Integrale (yours?) filling up at Sainsburys Monks cross last weekend, also an old 1920's(?) car, so presumed there must be some kind of local car show going on?

Was sat there on Saturday, didn't see until the last minute so just waiting for the post with fingers crossed.

@ madbadger, you'd have been better making out a list of the locations they're not at.

Despressing that it's becoming impossible to enjoy a daytime "hoon" anymore. I do like to, ahem, "press on" along d/cs and motorways but I also drive for a living so these feckers hiding in every bush is not good news for my licence. Thankfully it's rare to see them about at night and I have a good pair of xenons on my ST.

Quite. It is such a long list it becomes pointless.

How's about a weekend run around North Yorks?

Some engage the camera man in conversation while the others rock his van and make his piss bucket fall over. Blame the wind.

This could develop into a healthy sport...smile

Does anyone know the outcome of that rta where 4 young men in a car wrote off one of the vans & sustained some injuries in the process? I think it was up near Helmsley.

Yeah I was there on Sunday (I think!?) just blowing the tyres up and juicing it ready to take to Leeds. You weren't in the dodge were you? wink

Yes, 'twas me. One of my favourite haunts seem to be petrol stations these days wink
