It's new this year!

Many many years ago there was a show but this is a new beginning!

Expect queues!

Some practice flights today - a Mig (20?) & Dakota! If you get yourself to Ryther, turn at the white cottage at the T junction, minor road all the way to Church Fenton, turn right to the airfield. Alternatively there are several spots on that road to pull in & lean on the fence. If you want a big steak at the end of the day call in at The Ryther Arms.
Have a great day!

The Vulcan was great and it was a lovely afternoon to watch it but the event itself was badly run. Nightmare traffic, not enough food/drink vendors, not enough loos etc

Definitely wouldn't ever go again, two hour queue to get in at a pace slower than walking and the exit was just as bad.
Watched the first two hours of the display from the road in and there were people turning around and giving up.
Very badly organised
And huge queues for all the food stalls and after we stood for 20 minutes in the Fish & Chip queue they stuck a sign up saying "No Fish!"
Whilst it had been advertised as ticket only, apparently they were taking money at the door and no one was checking tickets so folk getting free
I paid over £33 for me and the lad, can I get a refund

Fabulous display and the weather was really kind to us. The logistical organization was shockingly poor though. My dad took us to Church Fenton air show every year when we were kids, so I knew to expect queues of traffic, but today's queues were in another league! We left Bingley at 9:15 am, came off the A64 and through Tadcaster and joined the end of the queue on the bridge over the A64 at about 10:00. We finally got into the show at about 12:10! The small number of toilets was utterly shocking and there weren't nearly enough caterers for the number of people attending. Also, the layout of the show was different to when I used to go as a kid. Back then the funfair was well out of the way, this year is was right behind one of the prime viewing spots deafening people who were there for planes, not loud and annoying nonsense. When the flying finished we decided to stick around and watch the planes departing for a while. We returned to the car at about 6pm. The car park was totally gridlocked. We decided to set up our folding chairs and watch the chaos rather than become a part of it. The gridlock in the car park hadn't cleared until well after 8pm at which point we finally left, though it still took us two hours to get home. The noise of the Vulcan made it all worthwhile though. If the event happens again next year I'll probably give it another chance in the hope that they've learned something from this year's organisational farce, however, I'll leave home at 7am and I'll take copious amounts of my own food so I don't have to queue for the best part of an hour to buy overpriced junk.

I had the opposite experience. Having just got back from holiday at about 13.00 I wanted to get as close as I could but not actually go in. Went down the back road from wetherby, through wig hill. Across to the railway bridge at Bolton on Percy. Bridge is shut so apart from a handful of others watching it was traffic free. Watched practically the whole show and left after the Vulcan. Back home twenty minutes later. Cracking afternoon.

Be quiet, don't rub it in Ian....
My left leg is still aching from 2 hours of clutch work.
