Hi All,

If you are not aware, there are average cameras on the A40, not sure if live but this runs from Paddington to the Polish War Memorial at a pathetic speed of 40MPH.

Be aware.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... new Average speed cameras on the A40 /westway West Lond

It will soon be extended onto the A406 from Hanger Lane, all the way down to Bounds Green.

Prepare to be right royally fked by TFL, thanks a lot SIEMENS you utter S. London will be standstill soon enough and as demonstrated by the A13 it'll change nothing from a safety aspect.

Hey, if you want to speed and pay the too-stupid-to-control-your-speed tax feel free.

Of course you could always just drive at or under the speed limit and not have to pay anything extra. It's not very hard, just look at the big number in the round signs and make sure that number that little needle* on the dash points to isn't higher.

  • The one that only moved when the car is moving, not the ones that move as it gets warmer/uses fuel/you press the gas while stationary.

Speeding on the North Circ between Hanger Lane and Bounds Green? Is such a thing even possible?

It was late in the evening or the early hours upto Saturday when they started long term roadworks near Neasden. Both directions down to 2 lanes. curse

It'll only be an issue for me coming out of town on the A40 after a night out, at 1-3am. The rest of the time I struggle to get anywhere near 40mph.

That's a long, slow journey at 40mph. They've massively increased the number of speed cams on a lot of the A roads and much of Islington is a camera enforced 20 zone. They introduced 20 zones in Lewisham a while ago, buts that's residential roads only and no cameras.

Ok WHAT EXACTLY are the road markings on the on / off slips of the elevated section of the A40 that look like a grid position accompanied by a post with 3 bright lights shining onto that grid position marking?

What ever they are they look SNEAKY!

They've been in place 4 months now and it's not really an issue. Just watch your speed on the very rare occasions there's an opportunity to exceed the limit.

These have just arrived on the A316 through Richmond. But how do they work? they have them on the way in at Feltham and Ive noticed them over the bridges but you have to go through roundabouts and traffic lights before you get to the next camera?

Do they take in traffic light times or what?

This is one of the reasons I've stopped going to the ACE Cafe, the traffic is just crap and dare you go one bleedin mile over the speed limit you will end up with a letter through your door frown TFL is determined to get all of us out of cars by any means possible and the millions it must be costing to set up all these scameras and the departments that operate them and collect the fines frown Its seriously depressing. Whole of the M25 will be next frownfrown

I'm on the other end of the A406 in East London.

Most of the speed cameras have been removed and on the stretch of A12 up to Blackwall.

I'm sure at some point Average Speed will go in.

Slightly off topic but I think the average speed ones at the A13 canning town flyover are active. See a lot more people slowing down rather than blasting past them. I don't think there are any average speed ones on the A406 past a certain point, only fixed speed ones

Motorings doomed frown

Why don't they build a nice clean monorail system in London, they could have it above existing roads and would be much cleaner than Busses.
