Good evening,

As there was a good response to the 'East Yorks PHers' thread, I wanted to get some ideas on favourite driving roads in our area. I nominate the Pocklington to North Dalton road - I grew up in Pock and this was the standard place to crash as a 17 year old. Beautiful scenery and interesting corners make it great fun.

Ideas on a postcard please...

Fridaythorpe to Weaverthorpe via Sledmere is a good little route.

I quite like the A161 Swinefleet to Crowle road when I'm in the area.

Great little run this, even better that it's right on my doorstep!
On a technicality though, not east yorks! :P

Oops, good point! I use the road occasionally when I'm in the Goole area so associate it with East Yorkshire although I guess most is in Lincolnshire.

Good point - I had thought that road might be entering into foreign territory! Would still make a part of a good run then back over the Humber bridge though.

Some good ideas - that whole weaverthorpe valley is a bit of a gem actually. I was planning to make a google map with all the roads on, maybe turn them all into one 'East Yorks PH road route'. Watch this space...

Norton/Malton to Wetwang is good in places so long as you aren't behind slow traffic a there is not any overtaking places.

Looking forward to the Google map thing Phil!

Thanks, I'm working on it. Here is version 1. Although looking at it I think there should be two routes - one which goes round Pock more, and another which explores the area north of Driffied.

I'm not that happy with the return leg back to Walkington (the drive is clockwise).

Happy New Year to all,

Phil

You should join Beverly and district motor club, they will find you some creaking roads with their 12 cars and the Beaver Road Rally.
