Hi Guys,

Anybody know what's being built just off the A1 just before you get to junction 47 (southbound)?

I've driven past it a couple of times now and there's a few heavy lift cranes which seem to be a permanent fixture, but can't see what's actually being built through the trees.

Bit of a random one but now I've noticed it I'd like to know what it is. laugh

Cheers.

Not all that clear what the Rabbit Park project is, but I don't think it's the one you can see off the A1. I believe that one is the new incinerator, cum recycling plant. Those cranes are much heavier than you would ever need for normal industrial units.

There was a lot of campaigning and nimbying going on about the incinerator but now it's actually happening you don't here much.

Hell of a big site though.

The site is a Waste Processing plant which will produce electricity from otherwise non recyclable waste . It is being built and run by a private company for North Yorkshire and City of York Councils- it will deal with most of waste collected by them (or on their behalf ) for 20 years plus. It includes an incinerator but lots of recycling stuff too.

I spent quite a large part of my life on this project until 2012.

Is the massive building that's just near Ferrybridge? If not - what is that anyway?

Haha, not that one smile

If you're heading South and you pass near Ferrybridge services, I think, there's a massive hangar type building going up...

I think it's a crane hire / sales place . . . There is not a lot of chance of all of those different types of cranes being used on the same project. They're also very close together and I've never seen them move

That is the new Trinity Farm development for warehousing and freight distribution.

The big one you can see at the side of both the M62 and A1 is a new TK Maxx distribution centre.

I'm not sure how big the site is and if there's room for more similar units.

No it isn't it's the recycling plant as discussed. Must admit they do have a hell of a lot of cranes though.
