Well according to my transmitter radio the jets were up there they were on the emergency frequency but they also called lba on 123.75 as they were crossing the zone the plane was ordered over water Incase it needs to be shot down

Ok, so two sounds were heard all over Yorkshire. My question, is it the same sound everyone heard, or do the planes make numerous sonic booms when flying supersonic? So people hearing different sounds???

It is basically one continuous pressure "ripple" that follows the aircraft along, rather than a series of separate booms, although you may hear 2 booms from each aircraft - one positive pressure one from the nose, and a second negative pressure from the tail.
