I've not been on here for a while, but I was keeping an eye out for drives and haven't seen anything. Did I miss something? I hope nothing has happened and that they just haven't been getting organised.

Try Tartan Tarmac forum for runs up this way as well.

From memory, advertising runs on here stopped due to the fact the number of attendees were increasing to the point it was beginning to get a tad dangerous. And more people with questionable overtakes... I do miss the drives and banter.

Has been a good year or so since I last seen one advertised on here. Think its now just a select few that organise runs for a small group through email invitation or Facebook only.

There was a large run a couple of years ago which very nearly went to pot due to the number of cars involved. There haven't really been any of the same scale after that. Plenty of smaller groups still off out on runs thouugh.

As mentioned, Tartan Tarmac is where some of the former regulars of this forum now reside, not much on the run side of things over there yet though.

Small groups are still good, but I may just register on TT as well. Folks were mostly well behaved from what I saw, but perhaps I missed bad bits.
If anyone is arranging though, do send PM if it's not er, widespread.

Mark/Brad/PHEcosse Hooners,
To give a few comments on the runs.
Yes the runs have been off forum and by invite over the past couple of years.
Brad you came up to Glen Etive did you not?
However they have been less frequent due to my weekends being busy domestically.
Coincidentally I have spent tonight doing a route for an invite only run.
The big open runs grew too big.
70+ cars is too much on the better challenging driving roads.
The open criticism of driving standards on the forum after the last big run was distastefull.
After about 50 runs we generally self policed with a few runners being barred...but this was always done in private.
I do miss the open runs as my email contacts is full of PH guys who love cars and drive well.

To that end if folks want a PHEcosse Road Run for old times sake I can do the honours.

I've only done one and a half PH runs but enjoyed them both. I'd certainly like to do more but the Sierra is coming off the road at the end of October and this year it's getting a heart transplant.

Based on my previous performance, I may be some time!

A PHEcosse Road Run would be most welcome, particularly as they used to often start ten minutes from the house.
I tried to get a chat with you at the Sunday Ignition Show but you were a bit busy. Had a good talk with Johnny next to his black Porsche, though.

Last run I was on was with PH was April 2014 in the Z4. Was quite a number of cars aswell which was probably why Ross in the M3 and I split off half way and took the Glen Coe (Skyfall scene) route.

Its a difficult thing to organise especially when you have to try find routes and break areas to accommodate 40+ cars. Hats off to you Barry (and Kenny).

Still remember my first run which Si in the monaro organised....7 years ago christ.

I've been on quite a few runs with PH over my membership here and I agree, they were always very good, well driven and I always had a great time. I miss them. They worked well as people broke into smaller groups of similar speed and it was always the same people every run. I really got to know how people drove and had a lot of fun, always good to see the same faces over and over again.

I was also on "that run" with my then girlfriend when there was an insane amount of cars and everything got out of hand. It wasn't an enjoyable day out lets say, it put me off even looking for runs for quite a while. Then the runs went private and didn't see any more turn up, I do miss them.

I'd be there if there was another run for old times sake though, rounding off the summer just isn't the same without a blast out with PH. It's also a good excuse for me and my Dad to get a day out together when he's home. Quite a few of my best motoring moment were had on those runs, following an Indy car world champ down a B road (while I could stick with him) being one of the best. Even just having a drool over some of the cars that turned up in the car park was great.

I would be up for a run.
Miss seeing the variety of cars on pistonheads runs and seeing some new roads, they were excellent when you ended up in a groups of right size all driving at same pace and trusting each other.

Even though I seemed to have the only heavily modified car and felt a bit of an outsider, these were the best spirited drives. The variety of cars and different speeds was what drew me compared with one marque runs (350,370z) if you weren't feeling connected to the car you didn't need to try hang onto the big boys tails.
Shame my 350z is in bits as normal and the 300c hemi is not suited for scottish roads.

Try the 300C, I've enjoyed my Monaro on the various Scottish runs.

It feels like a boat! The 5.7L has plenty of grunt but the brakes (which I have just changed) don't inspire me as its 2 tonnes nearly so takes a while to stop also the length of the thing is stupid, only just fit in parking spaces so not great for tight sharp turns. Probably gets the same mpg tho. I wanted a monaro but they seem to hold their value, so I went for the cheapest thing with an american V8 to scratch an itch... ended up welding some cutouts into the exhaust as it was so quiet... it isn't now when I open the cutouts =)

I've been told that my car only has 6 standard parts on it: headlights, foglights, mirrors, clock, tailgate & spoiler.

It wasn't the fastest, newest, most expensive or smartest car on either of the runs I went on but it was the best (IMHO, obviously!)

Sort of noticed that there was nothing to notice as regards the hoons Barry. I do miss them but I always had to be lucky to attend and now much more so, as based in Newbury now. Please keep me on the invites even if I can only make one a year it would be well worth the stretching of the old MG legs!
