I need accommodation for a Friday evening later in the month. York hotel prices have gone ballistic, top end hotels quoting £200+ and even the budgets, Prem Inn/Holiday Inn etc. in the £150 range.

Any suggestions as to a good country pub with nice accommodation within say 10 mile radius of York? I would like to find somewhere at about £100.

There is a Premier Inn described as York South West which is actually closer to Tadcaster than York (so about 10 miles away)by the side of the A64. It has a pub attached but don't know what it is.

It won't have the charm of a country pub but it looks like you can get a double room for less than £65.00 for a Friday night, (leaving a few pounds left over from the £100 if required for taxi fares as it is in the middle of no where).

York Pavillion is a Best Western which we stayed in recently. Would recommend - but ask for breakfast to be included. Not far from city centre and on park and ride route to the Designer Outlet (which is a pile of pish).

Pavilion is nice. Similarly you could look at the Best Western Monkbar which is very central and perfect for the York pubs.

You could try the Windmill in Dunnington. 5 miles from the City centre and have a B&B at the back. On the 1079, a main road into town. The food is okish at best though (they emphasis big portions over quality), very popular with OAP's.

The Priory in Fulford, walking distance to town. Great Indian nearby as well.

For a one night stand this is a decent spot, 7 miles S of the city & is quiet so you`ll get some sleep. http://theblackbullescrick.co.uk/
Not expensive, unsure if you can get a full cooked breakfast at the moment if that`s important. Straight up the A19 through Fulford to the city.
