I applaud what Specialist Cars are doing to max the charity income, but I wish that it was the small event of yesteryear.

I'll get my coat

and my pipe

and my slippers

I do agree that the event isn't what it was but IMO it has been worse than it was on Sunday. I'm one of those young'uns who turned up in a warm hatch but certainly want to distance myself from the baggy trouser crew wink

In a way I actually like the fact that lots of fairly mundane stuff turns up because it's great to walk around and pick out the gems which are just randomly parked all around the estate. Thankfully the morons with their banging tunes didn't start until around 9am leaving everyone in peace for the first hour hehe

I missed it - the last one I went to was a bit Cliotastic but some fabulous cars too- none more so than the gorgeously patinated Porsche 356 most people were walking by.

I think the best thing about yesteryear was that only a few similar car would turn up, so there was a lot of variety. Some images from the past...

If you look in the background, no two cars are the same smile.

Was a great show a few years ago but the crowd has changed and there's much less exotica turn up now for that very reason. The last one I went too was a couple of years ago with my young son. Too much swearing and loud music for my taste now unfortunately.

Fair play to John and Team as it's a very worthy cause.

My old Mustang in the background, I'd only had it a few days by then. I know this, as the dreadful 22" rims were still on it. I quickly sold them and got a set of sensible 20's smile

I'm guessing that isn't the one that ended up with a 90 degree bend in the chassis biggrin

C'mon. It's a free event and only takes up a morning. Personally I find it worth the drive out.

I took some pictures from the event. They're hosted on Facebook here:

Thanks to the organisers. Always something interesting.

No (mine was a convertible) but I do know the owner. I was at the April 2013 meet though, and within 5 minutes people were ringing me to see if it was my car that had crashed.

Looked like I remembered it from the good times. Maybe I'll give it another go next Easter.

Yep and I'd advise them not to go!

Rather(very) annoyingly, someone actually damaged my car there! Someone mentioned to me there that one group was pushing and flexing the body panels, but one guy really got going at the front wing to see how far it would flex(I have no idea why), they got them to stop and told me about it, I was annoyed but nothing I could do, I'd had to ask people to stop earlier as well. However, last night I was in the garage and noticed that two of the clips on the vent grills on the front drivers wing are broken, I've not used it since Sunday so haven't noticed it since then as it was dirty, but the grubby little fkers have actually broken the clips.

I will never go again, I'd decided to not go again a couple of years ago as it was becoming overrun by crap, but I'd decided to give it a go, now this has happened, I will not go again unless they try and remove the hatch back brigade and take it back to what it was 5 years ago. I will also advise anyone with anything that has any value or rarity to it, to avoid like the plague, a bunch of crappy hatchbacks forcing decent stuff away is one thing, but when they actually break things, that's a whole different thing.

Thanks for making me smile at least, I still have the Morris it's just off the road undergoing a restoration....or should be anyway. Time to pull my finger out, thanks for the prompt!

Cheers,
Tom

That's really sad, a friends car got keyed there a few years ago and that put him off. Sad as it's not often you see a yellow V6 Clio, likewise a Corvette. I hope your damage isn't too hard / expensive to repair.
