Mark, nice choices available, but what about GSXR power - of the 750 variety?

Happy to have a few rides out with you too, also happy to do a few track days too, where you can learn more about the bike's potential more safely.

Completely agree, before any car driver passes their test, they should spend a month on a bike/ped first.

It would thin out the number of car drivers and free up some space

Don't want anything TOO big to start with.

The 600 seems a good compromise. Can pootle around at low revs easily, then when wound up can go some.

Track days ? Most definately, although likely to be next year for me now.

have i got this right mark and this is your first bike? Bloody respect if so. I would dearly love a Ducati but have never ridden a bike for the one simple reason... I fear I would like it too much and I'm stupid enough on 4 wheels let alone 2!

And no, it would have to be a Ducati, I know, like Ferraris, they are not necessarily the best or the fastest... but oh what a machine

Anyone got a Honda 50 I can learn on

Tis indeed my first bike, however have riden motorbikes before (albiet on private land ).

Drove a CBR600 in Portugal when I was about 17 & from that point on always wanted one, but due to number of reasons ie. having used to be suited & booted every day (oh how I miss that....... not), finances, etc, could never have one.

Nowadays, work attire consists of jeans, t-shirts & trainers & finances have somewhat improved.
The only stumbling point was the other half, who said she wouldn't mind be being alive for the wedding next year & hence I couldn't have one.
She's now changed her mind, hence the bike.

Ducatis ? Wouldn't mind one myself. Them 750cc ones are georgeous. 999 ain't bad either.

Think a 600 will do for now though.

Seeing more road bikers "up on't moors" on Trials. It's organised so you get no hassle, off-road and scary! It's also cheap to enter an event although a new bike is £3000 to £4500.

Try one of they little 50cc scooters next time you're in Nerja. They little things are a hell of a lot more unstable than my 220kg thing.

Fancied a Ducati monster as my first bike but ended up buying the CBR600. Kept it for 300 miles before deciding it wasn't enough then traded it in for the ST. The monster isn't fast but it just looks sooooo good. Might get a cheap one for some fun.

I'd recommend getting a quote for insurance before handing over the readies. I seem to remember Triumph offering a deal, but this may have exlcusions (new riders). You can also go to the factory at Hinkley for a tour and to collect.

The old TT600 handled superbly (anyone see Craig Jones @ Donnington a couple of years ago?), so the new one with a 675 motor might be just the ticket.

That yellow/gold paint job with a Union Flag across it would look the muts!

It's temporary, you'll be back to old and silly soon enough This is more your age.

On a side note, www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk does great deals. Cheapest I found by a loooong way. The write up does sound very good...

No, that's the bike equivalent of a morgan, I'm looking for more the bike equivalent of a Ferrari... or in the Triumphs case, a TVR

Sounds tempting Mark but not until I have managed to sell the Ferrari.

can you imagine Vicki... thank God you've got rid of that car... you're doing what now?!!!!!!

Don't be too hasty old man.... have you seen the Rocket do wheelies??

147 ft lbs of torque and 140 hp gives it a 0-60 of about 2.8 secs and 0-100 in about 7 secs. Might be easier to convince Vicki if you tell her it's a 'cruiser'.
