Had my Chim for coming up to 2 years now and i'm thinking of a change.
I went down to Nidd Vale today and went out for a spin in a VX 220 Tuuuuuuuuuurboooooooo !

Couldn't work out if I liked it or not.

Pros
Excellent handling
Excellent ride comfort

Cons
Couldn't get comfortable in the seat
Getting is was like climbing through a large letter box!
Very close to your passenger, (I grabbed the saleman's knee a couple of times when changing gear (he didn't appear to mind !! ooo err missus!!)).
I cloged it on the Harrogate bypass and it didn't feel that fast to be honest.
Absolutly zero toys as standard, (no music, no mats, self winding windows only (you have to wind them yourself!!))

The front wheels were out of balance, so I'm going to arrange another test drive and REALLY have a go this time!

I'm attracted to the VX because of the substantially lower running costs (i've just spend a grand on the Tiv and that was just a standard service and 4 tyres).

Any suggestions on alternative motors people? (Don't fancy a Lotus btw).

why selling jo?

I'm being sensible...

Mr CG has just started an exec MBA, I'm going to wait another year before I start studying. In order to fund it all we've got to cut back on the motoring expenses for the next couple of years.

Assuming you're looking in the sub £20k bracket, what about an S2000..?

tried to call you tony but I lost your no.

I liked the vx200 turbo and I think you'd get used to getting in and out - you're a bit taller than me though

I thought the car was quick but pulled from say 3k revs and pottered before that. second to third wasn't great - kept finding fifth, but I suppose you could get used to taht too.

but you're right zero equipment. I found the ride good and the seats ok though.

poss chat tomorrow? are you going to the meet?

Up until 100mph about the same from what I've read, the VX has excellent 0-60 due to mid engined traction. Of course above 100 the heavier and far more powerful car will have an advantage. Read somewhere that M3 would have more acceleration above 120 than a 5.0 TVR

I don't think an s2000 touches a vx220 or chim 450 in terms of acceleration.

I've generally always thought that 0-60 and 30-50, 50-70 were far more important than top speed of 175 etc etc

enough to ahem, get you out of trouble if needed

great engines though and do look nice.

is convertable a must Tony ?

gone off the ide of a cerb?

Again, its the running costs.

I've been blatting between Hull and Selby in a VXT most of today (it was deathly quiet at work because of the football) and really enjoyed it, even in the rain with the roof off at 3 figure speeds!

Give me a shout through my profile if you want to go any further, I work at a Vauxhall dealer and would be happy to do a special PH deal.

S'okay Mark, anything involving 'mates-rates' is fine.

Now, if you could just sort out move to a job in an Audi dealership, I need two cars in exchange for my BM.

Drop me a line, as luck would have it I have a very good friend who is business manager at a Yorkshire Audi dealer, I'm sure he'll help out.
