Resurrecting a thread, I want to get my wheels sorted, having real problems keeping tyres inflated.

Emailed several companies but no-one responds.

Dunno if it makes a difference that my wheels are cast alluminium rather than an alloy.

Any recommendations for places in Leeds would be appreciated.

I had a set done in Manchewster by www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk they did a good job. Just tested the link and they are in Leeds now! Since they have just set up I reckon you should get a good deal especially if you tell others you like the job they did?

Another shout for Romax in Stockton. Had my previous car's done there and my current one's alloys have also been there. You can rely on them for a great job at a fair price.

Can't find the place now, but there was one recommended in Halifax, they are off the main road out to the North.

I recommended a friend go there recently, the bill was more than you might want, but the end result was very very nice...

Will try find out the name again.

Why do garages have websites with the 'Contact Us' button only to not bother replying when you do?

Happens all the time, very annoying.

In that case it's a web'ste' not a web'site'

Some businesses have it there for a bit of exposure, probably went up in 2002 and never been touched/looked at since.

Lot of places just seem to powder coat them, don't support the 2-tone wheels that I have.

Why is everything complicated?

And another for Romax, done through a friend. Invested in some ebayed wheels for the chim and they've done a good job with them. Look like new. clap

It's true that Steve Edwards isn't the cheapest place available, but as a friend of mine found out, you get what you pay for!

The quality of Steve Edwards work speaks for itself yes

Yeah thats them. My friend had his wheels done there...

Car has 265bhp, hence the big brakes

Look really nice in the skin as it were, super silky clearcoat, even depth, great coverage. They really are OEM quality, the best 'aftermarket' recondition I've ever seen.

After having mine done for £45 a piece and going crap already (slight bubbling) and never looking great from day one, it's really a false economy to not just go somewhere good straight off and get them done right with proper paints... powdercoating is just cheap crap imho, great for sorting wheels if your trading a car in or whatever, but far from a quality finish!

Ive never seen him produce a st job yet, the guy takes his stuff seriously!

When it comes to wheels and bodywork, I would have no problem at all taking my car to Steve

To resurrect this:-

Another one to add to the "on your own head be it category" - Smart Tech in south east Leeds. Took wheels there last summer for repair and balance. Through a very toruous route have since discovered that the balance job they did was woefully poor, corrected (also at a much more reasonable cost) by the Pit Stop, Huddersfield, who could not have been more helpful.

(multi spoke wheels on E38 7 series)

There's a lot of places that will do a half job on stuff like this and sometimes the price reflects this, but that's why I'm constantly recommending Steve Edwards to the masses as I've known the guy years and I've not heard a single bad word about his work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prices tend to be a little higher than normal, but in my experience, you get what you pay for smile

Can anyone recommend a good alloy wheel refurb outfit in Leeds?

A mate has just bought a c-class Merc with amg split rim alloys and they need refurbishing - though only cosmetically.
I operate a wheel refurbishment business in Wakefield. I work for me with my son helping. You deal with me direct not an employee. I have been doing this for 9 years and therefore I know my stuff. £25 per wheel? cheap crap repair me thinks.

I am happy to come look at wheels and give you an idea of what is possible. As for diamond cut alloys. I can do the outer rim but if its a full wheel there is only one place in the country that does it for me and he charges me £100 -£120 per wheel, however the finish is impeccable, BUT, there is no lacquer that I know of that etches over bare alloy so they may not last too long if they get chipped.

Anyway I could talk on here for hours.

Give me a buzz if you want to discuss.
