Not quite unmarked, but the police have a new hideout on the M62 -> A1 south sliproad near Xscape, it's a 50 and absolutely no-one does 50 round there so it will no doubt catch alot of people, spotted an X5 there this morning and my mate says he spotted a 5 series estate there a few weeks back;

That's a good shout I use that every Monday morning and you're right no one does 50mph!

Must admit on the rare occasions I go that way in my car I'm doing nearly double that speed leaving the M62 if the slip road is clear before slowing down a bit for the right hander at the end.

Yep good shout this Rich - I've seen them there several times in the last few months, often with the speed gun.

M62 west was entertaining yesterday afternoon - some sort of rolling roadblock going on between J34 and 35, possibly as a result of an accident involving a black Merc. Lurking among the marked vehicles was a dark unmarked A3, couldn't make out the plate from the other carriageway.

Unmarked 5 series with radar gun on Kirkstall Rd near the fire station this afternoon. It's always been a marked one before. I fear my luck may have run out.

Got to be honest I pretty much always do 40-50 along there. If you do 30 you nearly get run off the road.

WOW!!!! On Water Lane in Leeds this evening around 21:10 3 unmarked vehicles Q7, Passat and VW Transporter stopped and out jumped 7/8 armed police with face masks, balaclavas and g3k rifles. They pulled 2 men out of a car that they just boxed in. At first I thought it was some kind of gang and not the police, as they had just jeans and tee shirts on not full gear, no flashing blues either on any vehicle. Very intimidating indeed and I wasn't the one laid on the floor with a gun at my head.... I have some dash cam footage I'll post it asap.

I thought it was illegal for a unmarked car to use a radar gun?

Clocked it again and got what I think they'd call positive ID this time...YX58 FXP.

Thats not a new spot. I got very lucky a couple of years ago, I was running late for a round of golf down at Mid Yorkshire golf club. I came round the 50mph corner at twice that....there was a fully marked up BMW sat there, my heart sank as I saw him. Only when I passed him did I see he was reading the newspaper.
My heart rate didn't drop till about the 4th hole.

I love that right hand turn you can blast up it and on to the A1, pretty easy to carry some speed on that section.

It's a lot tighter than it looks when you're "carrying some speed" along there .

White 5 series tourer this morning, A166 between Beverley and Driffield, wish I'd been more alert.....nice Officer though, we negotiated a deal. 42 in a 30. Could have been a LOT worse !
