Slightly off topic but has anyone ever used these government mot testing stations?? Heard they usually pass all the time and don't fail unless it really bad! Due to them not carting out repairs.

B & W Care have serviced mine for the last 4 years; fantastic customer service and fair pricing and exclusively BMW. Richard & Vicky run it, both very helpful. Also have loan cars if you need to leave yours, although you will look like an estate agent for the day.

Off Richardshaw Road in Pudsey/Stanningley - 0113 256 6999.

Problem is getting in there. When I went last I had about 2cm to spare at each side of the car, with cars parked down one side and a wall at the other... nice location hehe

I go to BMW instead. All said and done their prices are not that bad and you get a stamp. I'll go to BMW for the services and hard jobs, then just do the other stuff myself I think.

In my experience, BMCare have not been good. Tried to over charge, wrong diagnostics etc. I turned to Leeford Motor Company near the centre of Leeds. I found them to be a much more professional and honest.

Mad4Mini are BMW mini specialists in Middleton/Beeston area. They seem good chaps and are former BMW technicians so should handle a 3 Series OK.

They will collect and drop off car too.

If your out that way (LS28) and don't want to use BM care there is an excellent garage just round the corner. Down to the end (stanningly road end) of richardshaw lane, turn right then left after about 200yds. Mayday Garage Services.

They are top lads, only fix what needs fixing, keep all your old bits for you to check when they've done and have an excellent hourly rate. Only negative is no loan car.

I used BM care once in the past and found them overpriced for what was an ageing E39. Taken all my cars to Mayday since then.

I used them for 3 services and various bits and pieces while I had the Z3MC. Prices were about half the main dealer and no complaints from me on the customer service or work carried out.

I wasnt convinced with B&M care even though I worked 2 mins away, they didnt know what they were doing with my car so it goes to Metcalf Motorsport (now autos) in sherburn in elmet. Paul Metcalf knows BMWs inside out and has built and raced E30 M3s, compacts, E36s and E46s so knows them like the back of his hand. I have been going there for 8 years since Ive owned my M3 and never had an issue plus my inspection 2 for my M3 cames to a brilliant price of £450.

Just had Inspection 1 on E46, plus MOT, plus a few parts (wiper blades and rear reg plate lighting surround) for £400.

This included courtesy car, my choice of booking day (pretty freely). Good phonecalls to report work and completion of work, and all around a nice experience to deal with Richard Thackray who owns the place.

Like I say, I've been pleased with them for 90k miles

We have used both Cramag and BM Care; both good. BM Care was marginally cheaper on servicing and pointed out a few things that needed doing, a reasonable time period (ie, brakes ok, but 6-8k miles will need another look), but no pressure and none of the "that's a dangerous fault" nonsense you get from main stealers.

I know Tony at Mayday he's good bloke as he's a friend I often take our cars to him. As he doesn't do MOT's we had taken my wife's Clio to a local garage, it failed and they said it needed £440 of work to get through. Spoke to Tony at Mayday he told me to bring it down and he would take a look then take it to an MOT place he uses.
The bill £100 including the MOT test.
Instead of just replacing a seat belt catch Tony takes it apart and fixes, he did this with the hand brake as well.

I needed some advice when I first got my 740i Sport. I rang both BMcare or Cramag and found them to be pretty unhelpful. One of them in particular were damn rude.

Shame really as I ended using someone else to source the parts and fix the problem.

My BMW now needs to be serviced and I need to find a decent garage in Bradford or Leeds. They do not have to be a BMW specialist but of course some specialised knowledge would be fine too.

It appears my header tank has started to leak a little, I need to get the car fixed before I head over to Amsterdam in it next week smile

Can anyone vouch for a decent mechanic in Bradford or Leeds?

Thanks.
