scotty_d said: Hi I too need to come along and say hi I used to meet at the sherbrooke with the tvr car club and we found parking was limited, They also hold lots of venue's, wedding ect even through out the week. A lovely place non the less but not ideal for large numbers with cars as we found out. Cheers Scotty thanks for the knowledge input. I was thinking of the place at the Raith for an evening meeting, but Duck bay for a summer evening sounds a great idea Further input appreciated PS whats the issue with 406 coupes? Beautiful car!

I don't attend the meetings as they clash with a work meeting that usually runs on, so I don't expect my comments to be taken fully. Having said that, I think moving it to Duck Bay isn't going to help anyone? If it is for West Coast meetings, I'm sure there are more people around the Glasgow area? I Duck Bay handy for anyone? Great place in the summer but everyone, and I mean everyone, will have to drive. This will lead to you hardcore guys just moving your meeting around the country. If you want to attract more people, I don't think that will help? If the Dakota is dear for drinks, what about somewhere like the bowling alley at the Showcase in Coatbridge? You don't have to go bowling, you can buy a burger and a drink while sitting at the window? BTW, can all delete any reference to the Scottish Ace Cafe style venue as it is my retirement plan.

It'll be handy for me in just over a weeks time that didn't contribute to the idea or anything, i think the point though of the summer monthly meets is for everyone to drive, get all the cars out in a good safe location where can have food or drink etc. duck bay ticks all the boxes. and Tony, that's my good idea for 2012 John.

Quite so. It's also very handy for me and 'cos I know it well, I would be aware of any shortfalls with the location.

How good is the food in the raith pubs?
As blythswood want £22 for a burger which is a bit steep.
It is a shame theres no reasonably priced place with large parking for us apart from Mcd's etc and we might stand out a bit there.

Do we normally have food at meets?
It's decent priced and decent food, nowt special but fills a hole and doesn't destroy your hole on the way out half an hour later.
I'll take a scout out on Thu night and see if it's busy or not, decide on suitability after.

I know of a few car clubs that meet here. Food is well priced and not to bad.
It is fairly Quite with plenty of safe parking. A little out the way from the City Center but not to far away.
Worth a look?

I don’t think it’s seriously being considered anyway, but for reference I find the Sherbrooke awful for car meets (Porsche Club GB’s Glasgow meetings are there). The exit ramp is too steep and has a sharp join to the road at the bottom—anyone with low front splitters etc will scrape them on the tarmac.
Take a look next time you drive past—there’s paint of all colours scraped off along the road!

What about carbeth inn out past milngavie?
Usually lots of bike meets go there and park out front but there is lovely new car park for cars.

The Malletsleugh Inn Ayr Road Newton Means Glasgow G77 6RT I live in Newton Mearns but have not heard of that place, few nice cars up this way tho. It's right up the top of the Mearns, near J5 of the M77 (where the new section of the A726 from East Kilbride meets the M77). http://www.themalletsheugh.co.uk/80040/info.php?p=...Edited: I just noticed that this has already been mentioned I've never been inside, but been past a few times before as there is a hand car wash operating next door. Loads of suitable parking, and given the local area, the clientele should be ok. Another option that has good parking, a beer garden, and a pretty good reputation is The Osprey (just off Junction 4 of M77). http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/theospreynewtonmearns/I'd be more than happy to meet up for a drink/ food at either. Both look to have a good selection of food at very reasonable prices too.

Malletsheugh Inn The Osprey The beer garden in the second looks tempting for nice summer midweek evenings (if we get any)

Not too far but still options of a hoon! That's a good option too, do we need to take a consensus? If it helps my first choice woud be duck bay, food, drink, good car park, good drive to get there and an awesome setting, how many more boxes can it tick John.
