Paul, you've started a thread that talks about mpg, diesel and cars with less than 4 cylinders. You're getting boring, and old. Sad times

Figures for this month are 53.6 for my poor little Clio DCI which gets the arse hammered off it everywhere! And thats still on the snow and mud winter tyres that would look more at home on a 4x4!
i never touch the 50mpg mark in mine, 45-49 is best

Nice choice, however I looked at E46 M3's a while back and 25-30mpg combined sounds a bit optimistic...
Really?

I've recently spoken to a previous owner of an M3 and he said 30mpg on a run can be achieved.

To be honest I'm not too fussed about the mpg. Just fed up driving something so mundane...
In saying that though, it's still a great car and it's never missed a beat.

I need to own a PY M3 to get it out my system. Then maybe a 530D or E92 330D or something more sensible.

But until then....

Anyway to answer your accusations:

No! Not with my life!
Yes, very and quickly.
Possibly, but needs must.

Previous 1100 miles was a smidgen over 50mpg actual (53 on the dash) new Smart ForTwo btw.

the last 400 miles now at 54-5 actual (58) with journeys on the motorway at 65mph meaning I can get 60+. Cruise control and a big hi-fi helps pass the time from a2b now smile

Thank god I still have the bike at the weekends!

My A6 1.9 (130) is getting around 40 mph on a mixture of 70% town driving and 30% motorways and I am trying my hardest to get it to that figure, going over to Belgium on Friday and will take it easy(4 up) and see what it can achieve, a friend is also coming along in his 2012 Skoda Superb so it will be a good test.
I think most cars can manage 40mph hahaha, I'm certain you mean mpG, not mpH though smile

My old man reckons he is getting 60 mpg (calculated using the full tank method - Not the trip computer) and that's with a mixture of town, country and motorway driving.

I had a 206 1.4HDi that always seemed to return well over 50mpg. I was averaging 65mpg but about 60% of the driving was motorway.

Replaced it with a 1400kg 2.0 petrol family saloon.... biggrin

Maybe once in a blue moon, on a run, 30mpg is possible, but in the spirit of the thread, I thought we were talking about longer-term averages here... (see below)

I know anyone can take a car out and get a quick high average. so PLEASE DO NOT POST SAYING MY XXXX GETS 60 on a long run!
Not trying to kick up an argument, J381, but I'd imagine 22-23 combined far more realistic.

Right, back to topic subject matter smile
