Glad the car was found, I had a look at that page on facebook for these Garthdee Jockyz wkers, I honestly can't believe the stuff they post!

Surely the police must be aware and be able to do something about them?!

re petrol pumps, i dont know if stolen reg numbers are routinely reported to petrol stations by police

Like i said, i was proactive enough and its a very distinct car (and plate)

Oh and apologies to the seller of this car to me, who wanted that plate back - dont know if he will still want it or not.

Glad to hear it. Thanks to everyone who helped out in finding the car.

From Grampian Police Facebook

Two cars, stolen from Westhill and the Braeside area of Aberdeen last week, have been recovered by police however a red Audi S4 Quattro (Reg YY54 WGA) stolen from Bridge of Don on the evening of Monday 30 July or in the early hours of Tuesday 31 July has yet to be traced."

Here we go again...

to Haggis et all above,

what generally happens is they drive in then fill up then dirve off without paying - i knew it only had 80 miles of fuel in it (ie £20 ffs) so i did go round a lot of the petrol stations with a note to warn them smile

And the police have been very very good - i randomly spoke to two differnet officers in different areas, and both knew with out prompting the full details of the car (and me) before I told them.

You have to remember that due to resources, there are only so many cars driving about, and most of the time i imagine the stolen car is hidden during normal peoples hours (ie law abiding go-to-workers) so the chance of seeing it pinging about are slim.

Then when it is spotted, if it is being driven at high speed, Grampian police have a no pursuit policy due to the risk to the public - now while it is not nice to think the cops cant 'chase' them, I'd rather lose the car than have it knock over a bunch of kids playing in the street. (although that point of view was wavering in my darker hours)

Unfortunately the police have a burden of proof and need a chain of evidence to stop these guys, and in the real world this seems difficult. And even once caught, the punishments seem low, but that is the politicians/courts fault - not the police.
No pursuit policy? Odd, there was an article in evening express a few weeks ago about a 30min chase through the city centre.

Someone needs to 'Duncan Ferguson' him - from memory 2 guys broke into his house and he caught them and taught them a lesson with a golf club.

I wonder how much of that is bravado and how much is the truth?

Well it has been an interesting evening for me.

Got home early from work and decided to wash the 4S. Car was outside my garage and the garage doors were up. I was in the garage mixing my snofoam when i saw a green P registered BMW 3 series pass the garage at walking pace with three lads in it all wearing the ned uniform. They were very clearly scoping out the contents of my garage. I'm not sure if they saw me but, rather alarmed by this interest, I watched them continue down the lane and then across the intersecting road to the lower half of the lane. They stopped the car and began trying some of the garage doors!!!! This is in full daylight at about 4.30!!!

I took the reg and called the police. They confirmed the vehicle was known to them and took the details and descriptions of the lads that I had noted.

10 mins later a police motorcycle cruised up the lane. I went to chat to him and he said that the car I had seen was now being monitored up in Northfield. He then gestured towards the red Audi S4 avant that was parked another 30ft up the road asking if I knew it. I did not. Sure enough 2 mins later he had established it is the stolen S4 mentioned above. It was lightly damaged to the front nearside but other that that looked ok. It had been left locked and was presumably ready for collection tonight for their antics. It has just been recovered and will hopefully make it back to it's rightful owner.

Thankfully it would appear that the thieves are just opportunistic and only going for and easy score so be vigilant and keep the doors and cars locked.

Certainly opened my eyes as to how close crime is to my doorstep!!! I don't live in Beiruit either!!!

Thankfully my garage is protected by a few alarm systems but there are others up my street that look ropey and look to have been entered before.

If I was to catch a scrote at one of my cars.....hmmmm I think he'd need a wheelchair for the rest of his days.

Hello guys, new to posting on here but long time reader. Am posting today about the BMW that was stolen. Just watch taking the law into you're own hands with this lot. As when my car was stolen I found out it was this lot. I tracked them down along with my car, just to be confronted with chavs with knifes. This lot are nothing but trouble. They are very young 14-20. And the facebook page is from the loon that was in the paper for nicking the 730 and the Porsche. Am not sure if I can name and shame on here. But its on the evening express website. I did phone the police many times about the 335i as I seen it driving about with no lights, speeding, etc. Sorry for the long and random post. Jay.

Given the amount of considerably wealthy people in and around Abz, there's bound to be someone with the resources to tackle this problem in a way that the police cannot?

Says a lot about things when an online page for blatant car thiefs has 350 friends...
Though surely that should give the police all the leads they could possibly want?
I'm inclined to keep this running with any information on any other cars disappearing.
As to the OP, when the car gets checked I hope it's still in good condition, and if so I'd be inclined to keep it, don't let these aholes bully you out of the car you want own

I'd be willing to let them steal my car...Aslong as they were all in it and it was travelling at speed towards a tree.

My Audi (60 plate) was taken from the front door (BoD - Aberdeen) a few weeks ago now. I have all the keys including the 'spare' one sometimes found in the glove box. Police still have no idea how it was taken. Thief who took it is locked up as was caught and sentenced within 48 hrs but by then the car had been passed on and used for numerous illegal activities in the NE. Was found in Northfield 4 days after being stolen. Bust FO suspension was only mechanical damage. In being fixed right now. £7000 of damage so no write off. Grampian Police have a policy of not chasing car thieves so make sure you lock up your car. They also have a policy of not really searching too hard for your car after the initial hour or so after it goes. If you are a victim of such a crime please note. The people who steal these cars tend to take them, park them up somewhere in the city or suburbs and then leave them there for 24 hours. They then return to the vehicle and use it as they so please. Reason for this is that if it is fitted with a tracker, when it is found they will not be around. If it has no tracker it will be where they left it. They also tend to go on the rob with petrol/diesel in a large jerry can so that if the car taken is low on fuel they can initially fill it so they do not have to go to a petrol station when the car is 'hot'

The present spate of thefts seems to be the responsibility of maybe one or two gangs of Neds. Aberdeen is still a small place so hopefully these morons will get their just reward in time. I only hope that some poor bystander does not get hurt or killed in the interim.
