I think I need to do some photos there tomorrow.

Glen Etive road is more suited to cycling than quick cars.
Some proper blind spots and some wicked compressions.

Glen Etive Road is a poor road for driving pleasure but there is some nice scenery and there some rare birds of prey floating about so plenty people with cameras and phones who like the peace and quiet and know the police phone number....

EVO did a guide to the best route through this area but as you just stay on the A82 its hardly a technical article. They also missed the detour around Kinlochleven which is a great loop of quiet tarmac often overlooked as the ballachulish bridge is the bypass and the quickest route North.

Its so wet, dark and miserable id wait until May when it might have cleared up!

AFAIK Skyfall was a wild west set in Kent or something like that with the scenery put in with CGI. However the other bits were in Glen Etive and Ocatane this month has an article on the locations.

Skyfall Lodge was almost located at Glenfinnan on the road to Mallaig from Fort William up near the Harry Potter Bridge. I was told this by the Estate Manager in November but a last dash change of plan saw it moved South.

I haven't seen the film but remember seeing the trailer and it reminded me of some pictures I took in 2009

Dalness house (and estate) were bought a few years ago from the Fleming family. The road is not that great for huge speed but when you drive it like the locals it is fun!! Its not the road in the film tho.

Cracking photos. It's Neil (used to stay across the road from you in CC).

Can you clarify that? I thought it pretty clearly was.

I hadn't seen this thread a couple of months ago when I took a run up on the bike for the very same purpose - pleased to see I was only about 100 yards short of the mark! hehe

yes

Plus it's a dead end, so on the return leg you have to drive past the people you upset on the way down the road!

This is a good shout. (Just watch for cyclists)

I found the rock that JD is standing beside (big clump of green moss), passing there next week so might recreate the shot!

I was down in the Glencoe area at the weekend so made a little detour down the Glen Etive road, i've been desperate to go to there since seeing the discussions about it on here!

so I managed to get this little shot on Saturday! biggrin

not too bad for jumping out of the car into the pouring rain, setting up the tripod, then really quickly trying to get it looking at least half right, then setting the timer and running over and standing looking dramatically down the glen, all in about 30 seconds! haha! my DSLR was soaked afterwards! (it's still working though!)

Scotty2209 ,OMG your shot is very great !!!! sooo glad to find your post and this topic during my search for following Bond 's route on our trip to UK next week from Thailand!

could you describe the driving route to this point for me ? , I try planning from Google maps which is : from Stirling castle A84 pass Callander to A85 through Crianrarich then A82 to Glencoe then do we turn left somewhere to reach the viewpoint that Craig and you shot . How can we notice when will we turn left? and how far to reach that shot point ?
thank you.

Right - I was back there on holiday today, so managed to get a couple of hurried shots in the rain.

As we posses neither a tripod nor Aston, the camera balanced on the roof of a 206 SW will have to do!

Didn't quite get the shot right for this one -

Be gentle!

You need to be careful driving with only sidelights and front fog lights, Police Scotland seem to have a very unhealthy obsession with clamping down on this minor point. Seems it's easier for them than catching real criminals....

The lights were for photographic purposes only. Can't remember the last time I used front fogs!
