A mate of mine phoned to enquire about an E46 M3 they had,when he asked about whether it had parking dents/stone chips etc he got "it sounds like you want a brand new M3, I suggest you go to John Clark" and they hung up. Unbelievable!Pricks!
I thought this thread was about someone wanting to know whats happened, there are a few keyboard warriors on here just to slag people off. If you stop business its amazing how most people assume you are skint even when its not the case. By the way I was not affiliated with the other idiot who was on.

Scoob, EVERY car dealer gets both good and bad reviews, it's just that more people are likely to mention a bad one. Nobody was assuming anything, there was a genuine interest in what is/has happened. Like a few people have already said, it will be sad if they stop trading whether through choice or otherwise.scoob27 said:

errr, car dealer's cars all disappear off the lot and there is no apparant new premises for them to go to. Said dealer applies for permission to change half built new premises (that looks like cash has run out for) into offices, blaming the economic downturn. What do you expect people to think?Anyway, I had a look for the revised planning application for the new premises and it appears that conversion to Office/Industrial Unit was approved in December.

Hmm I think it would cost more to turn it into offices than an empty showroom and reason for no premises to go to is that they don't want a new premises. If money ran out why bother change of use. It'll be finished and rented out shortly. If you are closing a showroom would you keep the cars, I don't think, I think you would be auctioning them or selling them off. If you were out of business why would you bother to demolish the old building at expense which must be in excess of 100k.
To balance out some of the other posts, a lad at work bought a RRS from them a couple of years back, decent price and a reasonable motor as far as LR products go. He didn't have any complaints and would go back.

Again, in the interest of "balance", SWMBO got a motor from CCC.
It was a Friday afternoon dog. BUT when it broke down they fixed it and when it came time to change other dealers said they wouldn't touch it but CCC said that since they'd supplied it they'd take it as a trade-in.

Not following your line of thinking? They obviously did want a new premises hence why they built a bloody great structure on the Drum Straight. They have already been given permission to build flats on the old site which are commencing shortly. (And why it is worth demolishing them, clearly) Apparently they have already been given change of use permission for the new building so it would appear there isn't much drive to reopen...For what it's worth, in my previous post I wasn't criticising them for exploiting the situation - they have traded for a long time and don't owe anyone anything. If they can turn their assets into a pension fund and retire, good on them!

They have put planning permission on the site and are looking for offers around £1million for it. They are expanding an already decent business exporting high end luxury cars overseas. They have just finished building the house near Rob Roy on the road out of culter and one of the brothers has built a house on the new site. They have secured planning permission on the new site for change of use and are going to rent the premises to an oil firm but will have to complete the building as specified by the oil company. The eldest of the three brothers has just secured a deal with Tesco to sell a plot of land in Kintore in a £3million deal. The middle brother has his house on the market for offers in the region of £1million. It's all very checkable for those of you who like to revel in others "misfortune"

I've just Google'd Culter Car Centre, Aberdeen because it appears they bodged the head gasket swap on my X1/9 that has all but rendered it a mechanical write off.
Glad to hear they're out of business.
Just going through all the old paperwork that came with the car. They charged one of the previous owners of my car over a £2,000 for work in the course of a year.
I think I'd better strip my car to pieces and start again just in case the standard of their work is as bad throughout.
