The mx5 threw a hissy fit at being called "Ginge" so the plastic back window snapped.

Does anyone know of a place in Glasgow that can replace soft top roofs?

its a mk2 if that makes any difference!

Cheers!

If you have a garage a few hrs and know someone with a sewing machine you can buy replacement plastic screens off ebay for £12. The hard bit is then sewing it in.

Taking the roof off a mx5 is a piece of piss. I'm a ham fisted ogre and managed it reasonably well.

Failing that there's plenty of places about glasgow that can do it.

Trim workshop in south street glasgow opposite emr metal recycling place

http://www.trimworkshops.co.uk/

or

Kelvin car trimmers

https://plus.google.com/106884007247593674421/abou...

I've never used any of them but my boss had work done on his old merc and swears by kelvin car trimmers.
(He's a moany bd so if he's happy i'm sure they are decent).

To be honest I wouldn't fork out for a new replace the roof on the mx5 unless you really had to.

There is a Breakers in Bellshill that have mx5's in all the time and usually sell of their good condition hoods on ebay.

Their ebay shop is http://stores.ebay.co.uk/qwikcarpartz.

Failing that I can easily get their direct number if you need it.

I contacted him when I wanted the hood I'd bought from dandycars fitted, he said he'd do it but that the hood I'd bought wasn't very good and the rear screen would wrinkle so not to expect it to be perfect.

So...fitted it myself with no drama (minimal tools and expertise needed) and 3 years later the only wrinkles that have appeared are on my face wink

The tricky part is getting a new hood stretched onto the frame, if you can pick up the whole thing as a unit 2nd hand then replacing it isn't a hard job, there's a couple of bolts either side under the seatbelt tower covers, then a metal rail under the rear deck carpet.

Hi Y'all

I have a Honda S2000 needing a new soft top. I came onto the forum in search and saw the post below naming Kelvin Coachworks. I tried phoning them and got unobtainable. Being a determined person I went along to the address in Strachcona Drive, Anniesland, Glasgow and could not find them but asked a local business and was told Kelvin Coachworks are no longer in business. I thnk the main man has retired. HOWEVER!! A couple of the guys who used to work there are now operating from Shawfield, Glasgow and their business is called The Car Den. Numbers are 07796 205539 and 07870 175783.

I phoned them today to ask for a quote but they were out on a job so phoning back tomorrow.
