Best driving roads?
Discussion
Hi guys,
It's my 21st in August and instead of going out and getting stfaced, me and a couple mates are wanting to go on a driving tour of Scotland.
Are there any roads which you guys can suggest? Ideally I'm wanting to go the whole circumference of Scotland with the exception of anything Glasgow and South and Edinburgh etc.
The cars will be 2 civic type r's and a Corsa VXR.

use the PH search facility but failing that, over the Lecht, up to Inverness and across to Applecross.
This thread pretty much covers it > http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
But in a nutshell, if you drive all the way up the west coast sticking as close to the coast as you can, you can't go wrong. (oh, and take a short detour from Kinlochewe to Achnasheen)
August is the worst time to do it. If you HAVE to do it in that month, drive early each day and avoid the numpties.
ETA... pics of some of the roads round here: http://www.stevecarter.com/picaday/roads.htm
('SLOW" is between Achnasheen and Kinlochewe)

We're taking that very route this weekend. Aberdeen to Inverness over the Lecht. Next day will be Inverness to Applecross before stopping over in Skye. Then back to Aberdeen through Glencoe, Ballater, Breamar, etc.. 650miles or there about.
You in the Aston? I'll look out for you (I live on the Applecross road)GetCarter said:

From Inverness down to Fort Augustus via Dores and Foyers as the other side of Loch Ness gets pretty busy and there is not a great deal of overtaking opportunities if you don't know the road, Invergarry next and out west that way.
You won't be disappointed with the A939 and Dava Moor
Avoid the A9 as much as possible

You in the Aston? I'll look out for you (I live on the Applecross road)Got back yesterday. Such a good few days away out on the road. Some of the views were just spectacular and roads were amazing to drive. Highly recommend that route plan to anyone looking to get away with the cars or bikes.
