teacher For your information, the original Scottish Motor and Cycle show was held in 1897.

It was originally held at the Waverly Market, in Edinburgh, and it had various venues in between then and the late 90's. (Source, Glasgow Herald)

It pre-dates the British Motor Show by 6 years (1903), which was held at Crystal Palace.

Despite what the French may claim, (Wikipedia) Paris is not the oldest motorshow in the world, as it was held in 1898, a year after the Scottish show.

There is a large following for modified cars in Scotland, the event is open to all clubs, so I'm sure if the Ferrari or the Porsche guys wanted to go, they would probably go.
I contacted them a while back to enquire about the Ferrari Owners Club attending but got blanked.

Anyone got some pictures of the cars and day?

I've seen some including the best modified car of the show.

Here it is.

Should've heard the crowds reaction when he got called on stage, not many folk genuinely liked it wink

You seem to be nitpicking and looking for an excuse to slate the show? There was also quite a few lovely old mustangs, corvettes, skylines, an absolutely spotless MK2 escort, Scotty's TVR, the triumph GT6 next to him etc etc.

Best ignore them and look at a chav wagon though.

Not nit picking, I just thought it was funny that after getting slated for saying the show was really outdated and too much Max Power, a ruined, outdated styled Supra right from 1990s Max Power was judged best car.

It is funny.

I've seen some pictures of nice cars but the majority are very ordinary cars and a lot of poor cars.

It mostly still seems like member forums meeting up for a bit of fun rather than putting on a show for spectators.

The show would get more respect from me if it focused on quality rather than quantity.

However the show has been built around inviting cruise scenes and all that goes with them. Not being horrible, but I really don't want to be paying for a family day out to see cars that I can see in a local car park most nights.

If the show cast them aside, that would be most of their custom gone.

They are having a good day out but it doesn't make for a spectator show.

Loads of people enjoy it and that's fine. I have no problems with those who did like that kind of thing.

I still stand by my opinion that the show is too far out of touch and too much poor quality.

Music isn't really my taste and he's shot more dubbers than other cars but shows a wee bit of what was there smile

Not sure who it was, however the Sunday afternoon / evening about 6ish I was on the road home West from Tranent direction and was passed at the dual carriageway heading off the runabout at little France? (Can't remember the roundabout name), by 8 cars going opposite direction rather briskly. Made for an entertaining spectacle on the rather mundane drive home!
