There seems to be a bit of buzz about Glasgow and we've even got a little bit of it out in Motherwell, where they are holding the triathlon.

I hope it all goes well but I did think this was quite funny https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Aj3KZa1ZCM

Surely not, the Scotland where I live is absolutely chock full of tartan, hairy coo's and people doing the Highland Fling constantly.............

I hope so, but in the shots they showed supposedly packed with people looking at big screens it was looking pretty empty.

It was absolutely shocking ! I found myself swearing at the TV. That farce does not represent Scotland. I'm no homophobe but why did that ridiculous man kiss another man on the lips as part of the ceremony ? Nessie looked like a Haribo jelly snake !!!
As for the "500 miles" ballet, what was that all about ? The crowd initially went along with it, clapping and stamping their feet but seemed to quickly realise it was more badly sung camp pish.

The best bit about it was the mass pipes and drums, I thought "finally, something to represent Scotland" but that was over far too quickly.

Did anyone notice the Rolls Royce that The Queen arrived in ? Was there something up with the suspension ? I'm surprised she wasn't feeling sick when she got out. bounce bounce bounce.

Don't get me wrong, I wish all competitors success and all that but the opening ceremony would have been better with Jack 'n' Victor saying "here's some gymnastics 'n' stuff". Aye !!

2 x Table Tennis Final Tickets available if anyone wants, face value

I agree the opening ceremony was commical tbh, far too much chat at the start of the programme i think would have cost them alot of viewers. Personally, i got bored and turned it over for the Darts

Was waiting for it to go through the deck at some point, don't think it was up to the weight of an armoured Rolls Royce limo.

I thought the first 5 minutes with Karen Dunbar etc was awful but the rest was fine. Actually quite enjoyed it.

Christ, I actually enjoyed it as well - We have to remember it is not the Olympics, that really was special.

As for the Old Dears car, I think that the issue was the platform it was running on was actually corrugated. (Like the tin roof stuff)

My guess is that it was intended to juxtapose the tradition of Gretna alongside the same-sex marriage bill. Inspired stuff in my opinion; a crystal clear message that Scotland's administration and its people embrace diversity (well, most of us).

I thought the whole thing was great. Not like any other opening ceremony I've ever seen before. That fits, because I think we're an absolutely unique nation in terms of our outlook.

I'd like to think that people looking at this will now see us as maybe a nation of people who don't take themselves too seriously. I like that.

Things like the Duke of Wellington statue with the traffic cone were truly brilliant wee touches.

Highlight for me had to be the wee doggies though.

... and ...

Great stuff. I'm very proud.

Good to see Salmond resisting the urge too.

Went to the Rugby Sevens,

I love my rugby and always enjoy watching sevens but the whole transport and don't bring your cars and everything is shocking, a huge wait at Buchanan Street to get to Ibrox, ended up walking to central station, lower rail to SECC then walk from their, to past a number of car parks offering parking for £15 for the day!

I would have rather spent that than having to wait for the 8th train before able to get a space onboard, then arriving over an hour after the sevens kicked off.

At Iborx then waiting for 2 hours in the evening session before getting into the ground! missing again over an hour of the first part of the session!

On the way back don't get me started. Proper nightmare, 3 hours just to travel 2.5miles

Sounds a nightmare. What about the underground? That's running on an extended timetable for the games.

Have to say the atmospher in the city has been brilliant, place is buzzing.

Don't get me wrong, the sevens was fantastic, just the transport and organisation isn't up to it. The "Shuttle Buses" were leaving and getting jammed up and taking ages, and the tube was horrible.

I went to the evening session on Saturday and had no problem, although I agree the subway wasn't very nice. Got into Glasgow by train at 4, took a busy subway to Cessnock and walked to the ground by 5. Getting out at 10.30 was very very busy, but I walked round the corner and got a shuttle bus back to Buchanan Street which I found to be very well organised. I was back in the town centre for 11.15.

I was working in Govan on Sunday and drove there without any hassle at all, despite the Marathon and Rugby. I was amazed that Govan Road was open for parking and almost every space was empty. It's a shame that some of the load could not have be taken by the road network but I think most were scared off by unfounded horror stories being put out by the organisers.
