Me and the wife are going to the Athletics finals on Saturday evening at Hampden. Never been to anything like it before but looking forward to it.
We are coming from fife and I am thinking of driving and just parking as close as I can then walking the rest of the way, hopefully not too far!

You wont get anywhere near Hampden to Park

Park & Ride and leave plenty of time to get there or take train

Anyone know if the mountain biking at Cathkin Braes has access for people without tickets? I only realised last week that there was unticketed viewing at the triathlon, so wondered if it was the same for this, as I lost out twice for tickets!

If you're going to drive then don't come off the M74 where the sat nav tells you. Carry on to M77, cone off at J1 and work back to Victoria Infirmary/Battlefield Road area and park up in one of the side streets. From there its a 20-30 min walk to Hampden. Traffics not too bad from that side.

Yeah thats the way i was going to go, my wife used to live by the Vic hospital so kind of know my way around there.
Heard the park and ride is a nightmare.

How far out is that? You may as well drive to Stirling and get the train from there.

The official Park & Rides are a nightmare apparently. Massive queues and not enough buses from west of the city.

Went by strathclyde park last night and someone's burnt down the triathlon huts, that went well then.

Overall I think it's been well organised. I heard about the train problems but they seem to be sorted now? I've been heading out of the city from Hampden Park so I've not seen what Central Station has been like.

Been especially happy with the crowds and tone of the whole event - did remind me of the Olympics. There's none of the booing for 'rival' countries, just cheering for everyone. Was really rather lovely smile

Just the one hehe

Not being able to get on the train at central is a bit of a ballache but just been walking to Anderston and it's fine every evening. Mornings a bit busier but all running very slick as far as I see.

Hockey final for the wummins today. Expecting plenty photos of that yum
