Son was up at Brechin trying to drive through SPECS at speed limit from Dunblane using satnav 60-65mph was typical speed SO frustrating.
I am not sure what you are saying, was the general traffic slowing him down? Just interested.

Just reading the paper today, it says there are no speed limit signs on the 100 miles of A9, and as it changes from dual carriageway to single carriageway drivers are being caught, and can speed limits be erected.
There are certainly some signs - but they are few and far between.

But they're not necessary over roads which are treated as NSL and don't have street lighting.

Are drivers that stupid, guess they are.
It's surprising hwo many don't know the NSL on dual carriage ways and single carraige way roads.

And many more have no idea HGVs and other vehicles have lower limits.

So we have some brain dead idiots on our roads.

But I was thinking, how many would know the HGV limit being raised on that road.

Between Dunblane & Perth Folk, probably because of speedo accuracy, were slower that they could go Frustrating when you know you can you a wee bit faster

I always click the cruise control at a tad over the limit, and sit back and enjoy the drive.

There's a big sign up about the 50mph trial near Perth so you'd hope a few would get it at least

Not that I use that road, but hopefully it's repeated at every junction for trucks joining the road.

Has anyone invented a Sat-Nav yet that works out your average speed since you passed the last camera?

Just discovered my audi as average speed indication in the menu. I just reset at each camera. The speedo indicates about 3-4mph lower than the average speed read out. Passing cars all the time now.

Evening gents, I overtaken a gaggle of cars that were travelling at 55mph this afternoon and when I overtaken I think I topped 100 mph max. I then safely returned to 60mph (slightly below in fact) with at least a mile before the next camera. Should I expect a nip in the post?

This is the new 'A9 problem' I've noticed.

Due to the trucks being limited to 50, and given how many trucks there always are, the speed limit effectively becomes 50 for everyone. Overtaking has now become a weird, drawn-out process of taking as long as you can by driving as slowly as you can, only going just fast enough to pass the truck so as not to put your average speed up.

Ridiculous system.

You can still pass a truck swiftly and safely. How is that going to get your average speed into points territory. You are worrying about nothing.

SpeedPro is the best app I've found for the iPhone, displays avg, max and and current speed on one screen, and the avg reset button only takes one press.

Overtaking at any speed isn't a problem as long as you have something to track your average speed. GPS, Trip computer, Phone. Hell, a passenger could do it with a stopwatch, speed tables and trip odometer, but that would be cruel!

Is there average speed cameras covering the dual carriageway sections or is it only the 60mph bits?

I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression that it's just the single carriageways.

I didn't mean me-I meant other drivers do that and then if there is a straight, only one car can get by, due to the lead over taker taking forever to get it done.

Dual carriageway between Dunblane and Perth, but north of Perth it is only sections of the single carriageway bits that are covered.
