I was always taught that it was wrong to perform a manoeuvre which causes other road users to alter speed or direction.
Spot on! Exactly what I was thinking after reading knightofni's post.

Ok, this wasn't meant quite as it came across. Most people sit too close on the motorway and indicating then pulling out in that situation is obviously wrong. Equally though if you see someone indicating and continue to advance on them then I believe your actions are as bad as those moving out into sub small gaps unless obviously ok by the following car.

However, someone could pull out to pass closely following traffic (say 6 cars) doing about 60. I.e close enough that you wouldn't move in until after them all. In your mirror is a car further back obviously travelling above 70 and about 10 seconds behind. Doing 70 you won't be past them all in time, does that mean you don't come out?
Like overtaking lorries it's almost impossible to say someone isn't forced to change speed upon catching the overtaking lorry. On a motorway I believe it's ok for people to accept reasonable adjustments in speed with relation to the distance and deceleration required.

Should Ii get my flame suit on for this!!!
