That's what I was thinking, your lass can't be far off driving you now!
She has had a few lessons but put them on hold for her exams and has not re started yet.It will be nice to catch up with people again, I do a lot of driving for work and am less keen on doing loads of driving at the weekend but I should make the effort.
Sorry for the radio silence over the weekend, fairly new baby requires lots of time.
I mapped out most of the route last night, will get it finished this evening. Can everyone still planning on going please PM me an email address to send the route to.
I'll put the start location and last stopping point in the email but the plan would be to meet at say 10am for setting off at 1030. I know that's getting into prime time for the 38.5mph Honda Jazz brigade so I'm trying to factor in bits of road that are less busy and/or offer a few places to pass safely.
Basic plan would be for an outward leg with a stop for photos/stretch legs, stop for lunch, then return leg with another break, finishing somewhere close to Aberdeen that will offer relatively easy runs home without going into the city for those that live outwith it.
Am I doing this right?

we were talking about you on the hoon and how youd dissappeared
Since I started working onshore I have a lot less spare time and as I said, I do a lot of driving during the week so I am less keen to spend my weekends driving. Combine this with the fact that I haven't had a properly fun car for a while and it explains my disappearance. I am aiming to go on more runs now that I have the Maser.

Bear in mind the Alford Motorcycle Convention is on the same day.
Grantown Motormania is also on for that day. Hopefully the weather is decent and there are less cyclists on the roads than the past couple of weekends...

Thanks for the heads-ups. Wasn't planning on heading as far out as Grantown but that might be useful to know. I was aware of the bike thing at Alford but assumed the power rangers would be staying more or less within the confines of the Transport Museum, or won't they? Should I adjust the route so as to avoid Alford, do you reckon?

From previous years the afternoon events are just recycled from the morning so they'll probably be people on bikes/in cars arriving/leaving at all times during the day.Hopefully the weather is decent and there are less cyclists on the roads than the past couple of weekends...
That said it will be worse around later afternoon when it all finishes and everyone leaves in a mad rush, from 50cc learners and old farts in touring/cruisers bikes to power rangers in sports bikes doing crazy overtakes and ex-police bikers out-cornering anything this side of a Radical on a mid-spec adventure bike while adjusting the temperature setting on their heated grips etc.
There'll also very likely be speed traps between town and Alford as well.
It starts at 11am, so assuming you're planning heading Alford way from Westhill if we leave before 1030am and avoid the area later in the day we'll probably miss it.
OK I wasn't planning on going through Alford itself, more just the general area. Obviously everyone will be keeping eyes peeled and driving according to the conditions but be aware there may well be increased police presence and/or mobile cameras in that area as well as bikers, obviously.
OK I've marked names with double stars where I've received PMs, can everyone who hasn't done it yet please PM me an email address I can send the route to and I'll get them out today. Don't worry, I won't spam you or sell your addresses on but anyone doing anything silly on the day might find themselves getting lots of S Club 7 fan club messages etc. I'll BCC everyone so addresses are kept private, it's just easier sending a mass mail than using the PM system on here.

Sorry to hear that Hope to see you next time.
OK just need to hear from Y3CHR and Yanayaya, if I don't get PMs from you guys by tomorrow sometime then I'll just PM you the route and hopefully it gets through and see you there. I haven't heard anyone say there's an issue with the route or that I've forgotten anything, I presume everyone I've sent the route to so far has it so, unless anything changes, see you on Sunday morning.

Good, hopefully the rain will scare away the Rossi-wannabes.
Btw I've got GPX/KMZ files of the route if anyone wants them (or you can try generating them yourself using this http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/)
