I had a layer of ice on my windscreen last week too. I thought it was just water, wiped and got the <<<Sccrrraaappppeee>>> and thought "Oh". I then had to press the quickclear windscreen button and wait 30 seconds

Seen a few of Transport Scotland's (or whoever their contractor is) out on the motorways, complete with ploughs attached. I just assumed it was either test runs or crew training. They didn't appear to be spreading so I guess the hoppers were empty.
