I've never been able to get a definitive answer to this.

"Edinburgers" or "Edinburgundians" just sound daft.

My mother used to say it was "Murraymen".

Well the book I have is titled "Weegies versus Edinbuggers" and is written from both city's perspective but then that's more a derogatory term than the norm I suppose.

According to Kevin Bridges, it's "c**t fae Edinburgh".

Was speaking to someone offshore the other day who claimed that "gadgie" is an old gypsy word for someone who enjoys the company of prostitutes. How much truth there is in that, I do not know!
It's true that it's of gypsy origin, not sure about the prostitute connection though! It was also prevalent in the Borders where I lived for a while; a 'barry gadgie' was a 'good chap'.

There's probably not a definitive list but I've always known 'Edinburger' to be the main one!

Edinburgh is Auld Reekie, so what about Reekian? My brother refers to them as 'whinging east coast gits'.
