The fire near there tonight http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west... has prompted me to ask a question that I keep meaning to do!

Does anyone know the full business they do there? I always thought they were a recovery company but sometimes when you pass by it there seems to be some high end cars lying covered in dust. Has the owner got a collection or are they storage, repos or what?

Just curious!

Was involved a few years ago with a similar company who regularly held vehicles which had been siezed by proceeds of crime or for not paying road tax/finance payments.

Seem to recall a story about a lovely car belonging to a well known bread roll manufacturer...

If they have a Police recovery contract then they are probably cars seized as evidence from drug dealers and the like possibly to be confiscated after a successfull prosecution.

They do Police contracts for lifting cars for no insurance, theft, proceeds of crime etc.

Mentioning no names, There's two cars you can see when driving past that I wouldn't want in my street never mind keeping them locked away from the lovely people who 'own' the cars. You probably know the two cars I'm talking about and they've been there a while, one of which was used in a murder. F*** that.

Oh right - would have thought vehicles used in crimes like that would have been kept under cover?

They only need to be kept under cover until forensics are finished with them otherwise you would need an awful big building, I used to deal with this kind of things and some vehicles could be held for 2 or 3 years pending court cases, fatal accident inquires and compensation claims.

Drove past again today and remembered your comment - any clues to what cars?

I would think the dark A3 would be one of the vehicles alluded to IIRC was a dark coloured A3 not the vehicle driven by a well known villain shot in a supermarket car park assassination

Yup, Audi A3, Range Rover P38 and the Mercedes E Class near the back fence/main road. Don't know if they're still there, noticed the A3 not long ago was still there but never really bothered to look for the Rangie or Merc...the A3 gives me shivers though.

I know why the A3 is there and am pretty sure I also know what the RR P38 is there for - incident next to the bus station? - but what's the story behind the E Class?

Passed earlier - A3 still there along side a white RS4 Estate that from what I could see, was undamaged?
Range Rover with a private "V" plate that has been there for a good while.

And, sadly, a silver Octavia taxi estate.

Every vehicle in there must have its own story, none of which are going to be particularly pleasant frown
