Need some help with altering some brake discs and need the name of someone in the Glasgow area that can help.

I'm looking to upgrade the discs on my MEV Rocket from solid discs to Vented ones. I am using cortina front hubs which need a PCD of 92mm and centre of 68.5mm (Standard ford). Disc needs to have a total height of 27/28mm.

I have found discs that are almost perfect, Peugeot 406 coupe front discs are 305mm in diameter and 28mm
in height but have a PCD of 108mm and centre of 66mm.

So I need to have need bolt holes drilled at 92mm PCD and centre drilled out to 68.5mm.

If anyone knows were I can get this done then please let me know.

Cheers

Not sure if he could do what you need, but Owen Ferry in Paisley has a good reputation on brakes

Try Gilmour Engineering on the Glasgow Road, Cambuslang. Wee small unit on left just before National Tyres

I can't recall the exact dimensions and know it's smaller than the peugeot discs you mention but doesn't the 2.8 Capri front vented disc fit over the cortina hubs without issue?

The capri disc is only 247mm in diameter so actually smaller than the 266mm solid disc I'm using at
the minute.

The cortina hub that I'm using has the disc fitted on the rear of the hub with the wheel fitted on the front
a strange set up but it would cost a fair bit to change the set up now.

The closest discs that I can get within the ford range are for the escort, they are 267mm in diameter
but 32mm in height which is too thick. I still need to buy new spacers from Hispec for my calipers
to increase them from 12mm to 26mm (£18 a set).

The peugeot 406 coupe disc is 282mm in diameter and 28mm in height which is almost perfect easy to skim
down to the 27mm I need. It's the PCD and centre bore that need the work. A pair of discs is only £60
which is cheap so I have a bit of room money wise to have them altered. If they end up costing
too much to have machined I'll just stick with the solids.

If I can get them bought, machined and calipers re-spaced for £200 it will be worth it.

Try here for braking systems for all things capri/Cortina:

I'll be upgrading using one of their kits shortly.

Thanks Pete

Slightly different situation for me as I'm fitting this kit to my kit car I don't have
the same sort of clearances as you would have with a normal car set-up.

Some nice kit on there..
