I am looking for suggestions for a good place to watch England v Scotland, four of us (two couples) someplace my English friend may be subjected to a bit of banter but not abused/beaten up.

I used to go to the Brentwood but that was generally as part of a corporate thing, invited by a vendor and plied with alcohol, which was nice. It was always a mix of nationalities and all good humoured.

So where do you recommend ?

I'll be watching the 6 nations at either Old School House, The Dutch Mill or a rugby club. Malones would be a good shout too.

Dutch Mill is always good and as it has multiple screens you aren't all forced to jostle for position viewing one screen.

I have been in numerous times after playing against Grammar (many years ago) and after watching games at Rubislaw, but would we be welcome to come in and watch a game have a drink ?

I am not familiar with any members now, since Wyness and Park were run off as coaches. wink

I'd say the Dutch Mill would be pretty good too.

Aye possibly, need to get in very early to get a seat though, my missus does not do standing up in pubs.
Good call though.

Wouldn't be a problem, very friendly bunch. I don't get in much myself theses days as seldom in Aberdeen, but usually manage an hour or so on a Sunday evening.
Plus side that there's always pies on Six Nations days]

Change of plan as the wife has just realised we get back from Thailand on the friday and she doesn't want friends descending on us for the weekend the day after we get home.

Beer and pies at the Grammar club sounds good though. smile

In Aberdeen area - Aberdeenshire 78-80 and Ellon 80-89 (ish) , then came out of retirement for one season at Mackie after I moved to Stonehaven.
I think my last season was 93/94

Prior to moving to Aberdeen I played for Dundee High FP.

Mainly played Prop with outings in the Back Row and guest appearances at Inside Centre.

Yourself ? Going by the user name I am guessing you played for Grammar.

Yes and I also played for Shire, a few years before yourself though!
Were you at DH when Dally Alardice was still around ?

O'Neills is always popular for the rugby.

The place is usually packed and they open upstairs too.

Yes Dallas was around when I played there, I didn't have a lot to do with him as he was probably late fifties and I was early twenties, but he was around the clubhouse and I am sure he was on the selection committee.

A real rugby man.
