Silver bmw touring at the exit to queen Margret college shooting there scamera gun at the back of cars as you go past, out of the 30 mph as you go in to the 50 mph, like shooting fish in a barrel.

And guaranteed to lose public support for the police. Soft target/how many tickets can we dish out today.
Must be dozens of children killed there every year.

I've never understood why that stretch of the A1 from New Craighall is a 50mph for such a long stretch before it becomes 70mph. Dual carriageway with decent slip roads. 50mph seems painfully slow. I had naively assumed, until now, that the police would recognise that the limit was on the low side and focus their attention elsewhere. It seems I credited the police with too much sense.

I think it is 50 till after the QMU as the slip road for the college is shorter and to try to help the students exit easier (and buses?)

The A1 used to be NSL right to the Jewel roundabouts until someone approved the substandard junction to be built (QMC)

I had to check my diary after reading this as I remember enthusiastically accelerating out of the 30mph last week...luckily it wasn't Monday!

A few months ago I was at a function at QMU and was surprised how short the slip road was when I used it for the first time. Unfortunately there are plans for the north side - part of the "deal" for QMU locating there was to create another junction on the other side to serve the QMU "triangle" (the land on the north side of the A1), so hopefully it will be better designed.

Not many people stick to 50 in this section.
